I thought I would be endlessly patient! I've fallen far short of that... although in recent months, I feel like I've regained a little of the patience I thought I would have. Hopefully it gets easier as time goes by, and my patience will be less tested!
Do you have more or less patience as a parent than you thought you would?

I'm an impatient person in general and parenthood has grounded me and made me more patient and more laid back that I would've ever thought possible!

Way, way less.
I'm generally quite a patient person but sleep deprivation and lack of me-time has brought out a side of me that I didn't know was there. It has been a largely positive thing - I'm much more assertive now, I'm much more successful at work but the flip side of that is that the endlessly patient parent I thought I would be was just a dream!

I can understand the frustration of a baby/toddler learning things and unable to fully communicate and have a lot of patience with my son. However, becoming a parent means less sleep, and less sleep means my threshold of dealing with stupidity is waaaaay low for adults now.

DH and my in laws have complimented my patience but I don't have the infinite patience I imagined I would have. I just didn't know how much patience would be needed.

About the same as I thought--I already work with kids and my years of teaching have really taught me more tolerance/patient with kids in general--BUT I definitely have my hot buttons (mainly throwing food and throwing toys). Plus, my Dh is so laid back, he's really taught me a lot of more laid-back parenting approaches.

Both? Sometimes I def have moments where I lose it quickly! Yet other times I surprise myself.

I've always been an impatient person so this worried me, I do pretty good at staying calm, but these last few months of pregnancy have definitely been a challenge with LO. She's showing her fierce independence, and i'm showing my exhaustion!

much much more. I am an incredibly impatient person so I thought that would be the hardest thing for me with parenthood, but I seem to have endless patience for my LO. But to be fair she is only 10mo so when she hits the stage where she is purposefully disobeying it will be a lot harder I'm sure

@snowjewelz: I'm the same. Overall I think I have more patience, but my fuse is a whole lot shorter that it used to be.
