We have so many things on auto delivery, that I feel guilty about our carbon footprint. But it's really tough to buy big heavy things when you don't have a car! We have on auto-delivery:
diapers
wipes
paper towels
toilet paper
hand soap
dishwasher tablets
dishwashing soap
laundry detergent
trash bags
cat food
toothpaste
razors
deodorant

for a while we would just go to Costco and stock up on all those things like once or twice a year, but then our membership expired after #2 was born and I never renewed. So I have a few of those things on auto delivery now, but will probably go back to the Costco method in a month or two. I love Costco!

@NYCaliMama: i love costco too! esp the free food samples yum yum. It's crazy there on the weekends, but I could go during the week... if I had a car!
I really want one now that we have two kids, but I don't think we can justify the cost this year for how often we'd use it. a car is such a luxury in ny!

@Mrs. Bee: I know it's tough without a car... sometimes we used to take car service to and from... it sort of defeated the purpose of saving money when round trip was about $30, but I figured the convenience of stocking up (not going to Duane Reade every 5 days for odds and ends) was well worth it. But yes, that's why we stopped going... Plus the Costco near us isn't in the greatest neighborhood and I heard this story about how teens carried weapons there so I got scared! So I'll renew when we move to the burbs in Cali..

No, I'm a bit odd about routine. Routine stresses me out. I do have a version of amazon prime so I can just predict and get things quick without going out to the store. Fluorescent lights in stores also stress me out, I'm not a good in store shopper.

I think I have dish detergent on auto delivery. I think there are a couple other things that I can't think of. I do want to get dog food auto delivered.

I've considered putting some things on auto-delivery, but we usually just stock up on things like paper towels, toilet paper, razor blades, etc. at Sam's or Costco. I'm sure once we have kids, we'll probably do some auto-deliver on diapers/wipes/etc.

Nope, I find it cheaper to not do auto delivery. But we have the luxury of car.

It's so weird to me hearing about cars from yours & Mr. Bee's POV. Growing up in NYC my brother got his first car (a beater) when he was 18 I think? there's been cars in our family ever since. All his friends all have cars too.

my friends that live in queens, long island and jersey have cars. but those of us in manhattan or brooklyn don't have cars. parking is $400/month plus car payment and insurance is a lot to pay when you don't use a car every day.

But they do all work in Manhattan so they only use the car on weekends.

@regberadaisy: yup if we lived outside of brooklyn and manhattan where public transportation wasn't so readily available, we'd definitely get a car! but right now we live a block and a half from the subway station, and it's only 3 stops into the city. it's cheaper, easier, and faster to take the subway than drive.
but i sooooo want a car so we can take the kids on fun activities outside of the city during the summer. i can't justify the cost this year though. maybe next year when olive is 1 1/2 and charlie is 3 1/2!

wow! we also had a car when we lived in manhattan since DH drove to work.
we only have diapers on auto-delivery since we get everything else from costco. i'll also do a fresh direct bulk order once in a while, too. i just did one for wine!

@Andrea: we freshdirect too at least 3x a month. milk is heavy and we buy a lot of it!
i wish they had a better wine selection, though i do order wine from them because it's so convenient.

@Mrs. Bee: oh it know! we always have 6 cartons of milk in our fridge. i was tempted to buy milk, too, but it IS cheaper at the grocery store so i resisted. but it is such a pain to lug them from the store.
i keep this wine on hand. i normally prefer red but i found this white one that i like so i keep reordering it:

The only things I have on auto-delivery are special DHA pills and Spicy Thai Kettle chips because our grocery stores stopped carrying them. I feel like a pig when the huge box of chip bag arrives every few months.

Dayum, Bee! I live in a suburbian mecca and we drive EVERYWHERE. Nothing is in walking distance. So we just pile everything into our SUVs. I would love to have everything just delivered to my door. That sounds awesome.

Prenatal vitamins, coconut oil, quinoa. I also have yogurt starter on my list, but I don't always have it delivered since I can reuse the yogurt as a starter a few times.
