I saw a mosquito flying around earlier and just killed it with my hand! I didn't want it to bite my LO tomorrow.
I haven't had to kill any large insects with my hands, but I would if I had to!

@mrbee: HAha. Before baby I always used magazines, paper, etc. I couldn't let the sucker get away though!

@chopsuey119: Good job, mom — protector of your LO!!
The only insect I don't kill with my bare hands is cockroaches. Also, big spiders.

Nope, unless they are biting me, otherwise I grab a kleenex or swatter to kill them.

I can't. I don't like the crunch feeling. It freaks me out. I turn into a total girl when a bug gets inside. I squeal and flap my arms around and do a weird dance thing. It's quite ridiculous.

I hate killing bugs. I've gotten better about it trying to protect LO but I still will try to escort the bug outside. I also get my husband to do the dirty work for me. And I don't use my bare hands I'll use a shoe or something and then I get upset and basically have a moment of silence. I'm a scientist though so I've killed my share of lab mice with my bare hands. Guess what girl chose the wrong career.

Depends on the insect? My dad and I are the only ones in our family who can catch flies, so if there's one in the house, we're the ones called upon to take it out. My dad used to shake them up and throw them on the ground after catching them. Any other bug, I'd ask for someone else to do it if I can.

My husband or cat takes care of it. I'm usually the one that is running down the hall screaming.

@Maysprout: Oh man.. I could never kill a mouse with my bare hands. So sad.

My live-in nanny used to do this.... I was always amazed. I could never!

I give you all sooo much credit! I couldn't kill a bug (or even get close to one) if it saved my life! Thank goodness for DH.....well that and the vacuum. If I see a bug and I know that DH isn't home and won't be home for awhile, I will run and get the vacuum and suck it up! And yes....I know that the bug will most likely live in the vacuum, but it's at least out of sight then!

No. My husband is the insect killer in our house. When I lived alone if there was a bug I would spray it, wait a day to make sure it was dead, avoiding that area of my house, then put on an oven mit and pick it up with a paper towel so I wouldn't have to hear the crunch or feel it. Life is so much easier now!

I was on a work assignment in East Africa once for a couple weeks, and the apartment they rented for me had a serious roach problem (to the tune of me killing like 50 a day. No joke). (They relocated me after they found out)
They were small roaches, and there were just so many that I got immune to killing them with my hands. I'd come back from work and just walk around the room smacking them down.
I can deal with bugs if there's no one else to do it, but you put my husband in the house with me and I will wake him up at 4 AM to come kill a spider.

Ick, ick, ick! I've finally graduated to killing my own bugs instead of screaming for DH to do it (although, if he's close by, he's definitely put to work!).
Mosquitos are pretty much the only ones that get the bare hands treatment.
This morning, I had to kill a centipede (shudder) in the bathroom. I freaked out, then grabbed a kleenex, squished it, and threw it in the toilet (no need to take any chances with bugs - they all go down the toilet!).

It depends. If it's a crawler or is slow, I'll grab a paper towel or something. If it's urgent and flies/moves really fast, bare hands it is!!
