My friend told me that you put (ICE) next to the person's name that a stranger can call In Case of Emergency. So I have it next DH's name. But I wonder how widely used this is or known?
Do you know about/use ICE?

Yup I know to put this in my phone and to look for it in a situation where someone needs help!

@regberadaisy: I don't know about ICE but considering I hate abbreviations because I can never remember what it stands for. I'm pretty sure in an emergency, I will be stumped trying to remember what ICE stands for. Haha.
I know you're suppose to put in your phone contacts, "Mom", "Dad" and"Husband" so it's easy for strangers to find.

My husband sometimes needs these numbers for his work, and he just looks at the favorites in the phone, or one of the last frequently called numbers.

I saved my favorites in my iPhone based on relationship so it does NAME - Husband, NAME - Sister, Mom, Dad, etc.

No idea of this either.I just don't know how useful it is though, because to get into my phone, you need a password.

My android phone has programmable ICE numbers that can be accessed without the password, so I use those.

DH's phone has ICE contacts first-it's programmed to let you put those names in first. Then, on your contacts, they show up in red.

@looch: I put an emergency contact # on my lock screen because my phone is locked too. Its part of the wall paper.
I wish the iPhone had this feature built in like Android!

I have ICE next to my mom, dad, and Hubs. And Hubs's contact "button" is on my home screen on my phone.

I didn't but I think I will add it next to my DH's cell number in my phone.

I did, but my iPhone emptied my contacts, so right now it's got nothin!

I don't use it because my phone is locked, so I doubt it would be of much use.

I wish it would be possible to program the emergency call on the lock screen on the iphone...maybe it is and i don't know how to do it?

Never heard of it and guess I'm sol if anything happens since my phone is locked.
I have my family listed as husband, mommy, Daddio, sister

DH & I have both had it in our phones for years. I still think of "ice ice baby" whenever I are it.

I don't do this, but i'd heard to always make sure people that would need to be called in an emergency are easily accessible.
So my mom is Mother, dad is Dad, etc.
That way they're not scrolling through trying to find my parents and don't know their names to look for them that way

No, I don't. I've heard of it, but up until a couple months ago there was a passcode on my phone and no one would be able to access it anyways. Right now it has DH's name with a next to it, so hopefully if anyone say my favorites that's the one they'd go with. Or "mom" or "dad".

I know about it, but don't use it.
I figure someone would go to my favorites and dial my husband first because he's listed at the top with both cell and work numbers. Then comes mom, sister, my doctor, pediatrician, and school...

at first I thought RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
makes sense though

Yep, I had it set up on my old phone (could be used with the "emergency call" feature when my phone was locked) but when I got my new phone there is actually an indication for ICE on the phone screen (whether phone is locked or not).

My phone has a setting for it - so if something happened it could be looked up, but it also has his name in red.

@looch: There are ICE apps that you can use to create a wallpaper with the number for your lock screen, unless there's another way I don't know about.

@bluestriped bee: I have actually heard not to put stuff like mom, dad, husband etc. because if you lose your phone, it's information a scammer can use to scam your loved ones! In other words, if you have a smartphone, they know who to text/email for money a la "hey mom I was mugged in Italy, please wire $5,000."
@sunny: That's a really good idea!

I've heard of this before but my brother is a paramedic and he said they never go through anyone's phone looking for "ICE." He said that maybe the hospital will do it, but he has never known a first responder to.

Never heard of it! But I've lost my phone before and they just call the contact that says "hubby!" lol.
