My uncle - 7 girls. When the last girl was born he really wanted a boy but was relieved when it was a girl - he said he wouldn't know what to do with a boy at that point. He also grew up with 5 sisters.

Yep, I'm the oldest of 10 and there were 7 girls and 3 boys. There were 5 girls before there were any boys! And Farmer Man is the oldest of 9- 8 boys and 1 girl, with the girl smack dab in the middle. 4 boys, the girl, then 4 more boys.

My mom had 4 girls and my aunt had 5 boys. They used to joke about switching us so my aunt could have girls and my mom boys.

@FarmWifeGina: You're both from really big families! That's cool!

I know one friend from HS with three girls, and another who had three boys and finally a girl for her youngest. One of my coworkers also has 3 boys.

I am one of 5 girls. My mom thought she "cursed" us with the inability to have boys. I have a 2.5 year old boy with another on the way.

DH was one of 4 boys. His oldest brother had 3 boys. We were all shocked when we had a girl!

@babycanuck: LOL, I guess. It was what it was. Obviously, with that many kids there's going to be more than 3 of each gender, but with both our families, it would have been all boys or all girls if they'd stopped at 3 or 4.

I know someone with 4 girls! They wanted to do gender selection after the third girl, but accidentally got pregnant with number four.

Well, I'm #4 out of 5 girls. my dad always said he loved having girls, but he was over the moon when his first grandson was born!
A good friend of mine has four boys; they are all super sweet.

I have three older brothers (one set of twins). My mom told me that her and my dad were going to keep having babies until they had a girl. And DH is one of three boys.
A friend of my mom's had 6 girls. They kept trying for a boy.

DH has seven sisters. So did my FIL. BIL has four girls and one boy.
The odds are not in DDs favor that she'll have a little brother.

Growing up I knew several families with 4 girls and one family with 3 boys.
Our friends are still on their first or second babies. And I don't think I know anyone who wants more than 2 kids , other than SIL (but she lives in a lower cost of living area and they can live well with lots of kids on BIL's income).
ETA Two of DH's friends have 3 girls and 4 girls but the one with 4 girls has shared custody with an ex so he isn't always overrun by little women. And the one with 3 girls lives in a lower cost of living area as well.

My step mother had 6 children - four boys, a girl, and then a final boy. All home births, all OVER 10 pounds. And this woman says that she wishes she could have had more! She is amazing.

Yup! I know someone with 8 whose oldest and youngest are boys and the rest are girls. I know someone who has four boys. I know someone with three girls then a boy. I know someone with three girls. I know someone who had a girl then three boys, I don't know if that counts...

It seems like everyone I know has only boys or girls. My FIL is one of 5 boys, and my MIL is one of 5 girls. I think I am cursed to only have boys. My FIL has four sons, 7 grandsons and 12 grand-nephews. He only has one daughter, and one biological granddaughter (there are three others that are adopted) and no grand-nieces.

Yep, our good family friends had 2 girls, so they tried one more time for a boy, and got twin girls. He got snipped, they reversed it to try again for a boy, and got another girl. One last shot was finally a boy.
And both my parents families do, but they come from families of 7 kids, so there had to be 4 of one or the other

Together my husband and I have 1 boy and 4 girls. My first was a boy from a previous marriage, we've had 2 girls together, and he has 2 girls from a previous marriage. He really wanted his own son, but I'm done done done. He's raising tomboy

My parents had 3 girls. My dad was ecstatic because he always wanted girls. A family friend of ours had 3 boysv and from what I can remember, they loved it as well. I also work with who just had her 3rd boy and was Sorry bummed because they wanted a girl. She is thinking of trying for a 4th in hopes of a girl.

I'm one of three girls. I remember when my littlest sister was born that we were sure it was a boy, but we were surprised!

My husbands mom is one of six and she only has one brother. He is the yoingest. He has three girls and one boy. My friend is having her fourth boy in December. My mom has had three girls. All babies are a joy! I can see someone being a bit sad because they will never have a daughter or a son and want to experience that but of course the ultimate upset would be never to have a child at all or to not have a healthy child.

I have 3 boys. Granted, 2 are step children.
My mil had 3 boys.
My grandmother in law had 5 boys.
My grandma had 6 boys.
I know more as well, but I'll spare everyone from my gigantic family.

I know just one person with three girls.

My grandparents had 7 girls, no boys. And most of their daughters had girls, too...so that side of the family is pretty overwhelmingly feminine. 7 girls is a lot in one family.

A good friend has three adorable boys. She wants a girl so bad though so they'll keep going. She always wanted a big family!
