Do you know the number? That of your spouse? How often do you monitor?

Last time we checked was when we bought our first house. Our scores are similar. We should probably check annually though. A family friend was a victim of identity theft and had no idea it was happening (for 3 years!)

I don't remember the number, but I checked both of ours at the beginning of the year before we went house shopping. DH hates computers so he had me check his so I knew both of ours.
I monitor my credit fairly regularly, but don't usually pay for the actual score. The only times I've gotten the score was when I bought my car and they ran my credit and showed me the score, and right before we bought our house.
The score is good, so I just check my credit reports to make sure nothing suspicious is happening. I don't feel the need to constantly know the actual score though.

My husband has subscribed to a service on behalf of one of those recent security breaches, he likes to tell me that his score has increased and is finally higher than mine. He knows his number, he knows mine, lol.

I checked last year, mine has stayed the same since we bought our house 5 years ago, DH has gone up as he's paid a couple things off.

We just bought a car a couple of months ago so I know both of ours because the info was sent to us when we applied for a loan. We also both have credit monitoring and are emailed anytime there's an inquiry or other activity on our credit report.

Just had it checked since we are buying a house, and we are almost the same in our credit scores. We check every other year.

Yes, I know mine, I actually don't know DH but I prob have the better credit.

I keep track of his score via our credit card (free service they provide). His is excellent. So was mine back on March when I last saw it

I use credit karma and it's really accurate! I check it every few months.

Yes but we bought a house and a car recently so it's been checked a lot!

I check a few times a year on Credit Karma. I know the ballpark range of mine and my DHs.

DH does. He handles all the financial things in our family, because he's obsessive about it. He balances the checkbook every day. I just know they're very, very good (thanks to him!) and that he keeps an eye on them.

If you have an account on mint, you get your credit score for free every three months. It's pretty awesome and they have a little analysis too. My name is linked to our mint account, but we created a dummy one as well in order to get my husband's score.

@Mrs. Pen: I found this to be really untrue when I just bought a car. Credit karma reported mine in the low to mid 700s, and then the number pulled at my Credit Union was upper 600s. Big difference.

Yup. We are looking into possibly buying a house (/condo/etc) soon so we have been trying to get our scores up a little.
@sarac: good to know but scary!! I hope mine is accurate!

@sarac: Sometimes the 3 bureaus can differ by 10-50 points which might explain the discrepancy. There might also be additional info that the bureau your CU used than what Credit Karma had access to. When I've checked Credit Karma against an official score in the past, they were pretty close.

Yes, in the process of buying a house so we each know both of our scores. We use credit karma but like @sarac: we found it to be somewhat off of our actual scores pulled by the mortgage guy.

DH checks it regularly. We have a credit monitoring service too because his organization was breached.

@sarac: My experience has been the same as @sunny: - having had it pulled in the past for loans and knowing what it was then, and comparing it to credit karma - it was close enough for me! It's a good ballpark range for me. I don't need to know the EXACT number.

Yep just applied for a mortgage so we know the fact numbers. I don't check with any specific frequency. Just when we get a car or refinance or something.

I'm on one of those monitoring systems from a health insurance breach at work but I haven't checked it in awhile! I have excellent credit, though
nectarine / 2690 posts
Yup we are both on credit karma. It's good to keep track of your score and credit activity.

My discover card lists my FICO score so it's available whenever I feel like checking.

@looch: Yes, because we recently bought a house, and only months before that we had bought a car. Mine is always a little higher than his and I like to gloat!
