If you have a cart full of groceries, do you let people with fewer items cut you in line? I always do this!

Maybe once or twice if it's an elderly person. Otherwise nope, when I have it the past it always ends up being a person takes forever and causes trouble with just their couple of items.

I do when I notice but sometimes I'm oblivious to my surroundings.

Yeah, I do it often. If they have, like, less than 5 items I'll let them go before me. BUT, I should mention that NOBODY has ever let me cut in front of them!

Nope..but so I don't sound like a witch, I do the pre-scan thing at stop and shop, so it takes me all of 5 min to check out. Scan the barcode, scan my key ring, pay.

regularly. it's been done for me too, but i very rarely end up leaving anywhere with just a few things.
have you seen that new commercial where the guy lets a man go in front of him, and then the guys ends up being the 1 millionth customer and then wins like $500,000? maybe my good deeds will pay off, and this will happen to me one day!

I do when I notice but sometimes I'm just not paying attention and i have no idea!

Sometimes I do. It depends on how nice I'm feeling that day. But never at WalMart because I hate that place and the quicker I can get out the better of everyone is!

If they have a few items then yes.
It seriously pisses me off when I have 1 thing I need to buy and the person in front of my has a cart full adn they don't offer to let me go first!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
Yep, I do and it always makes me happy when people do it for me too.

If I have a big cart, they have less than 5, and there's only one lane open (usually late at night), then yes. DH is more apt to offer, though, mostly because half the time I'm engrossed in perusing bad celebrity gossip mags and don't notice.

I always do if they have a few things and I have a cart full of stuff, I would feel incredibly awkward and rude if I didn't.

I only do if its an elderly person, pregnant woman, or someone with fussy little ones. Otherwise, I don't.

I shop at Walmart. I avoid contact with all other shoppers while there. There is no letting people in front of us at that store. Haha.

Sometimes. It depends on where I am. It also depends on how long I've been at the store and how fed up I am by the time I check out! haha I usually let someone go ahead if they only have a handful of items compared to my overflowing buggy. I'm less likely to do so if I have DS with me.

YES...Because it's usually ME who only has 1 item and I love when people are so kind to let me cut in front. I'm usually not a big shopper: I pretty much just grab what we need for dinner the day of so I'm not usually the one with a cart but a basket instead.

@mediagirl: LOLOLOL!!! Love it.
I only do it if there's no one behind me... like, I don't want to be the line ambassador and let someone cut if there's a bunch of people behind me, because I don't want to piss them off. But I guess it's kinda pointless if that person only gets to go in front of one person (me).

Depends on how long I've been waiting in line to check out. But if they only have a couple items, I let them go first.

Not if they have "fewer", but if they have 1 or 2 things and I have a cart full, yes. If I only have a handfull of things to their one, no,.

I don't think this situation ever comes up. People with fewer items go to the self check out or express check. Everyone in the regular line has a full cart.

@sorrycharlie: I miss Stop and Shop so muuuuuch!!!!
I'm not often in this situation because our store usually has 2 lanes open that are just for people with 10 or fewer items. So if I have a whole cart full then I'm not in the same line as someone who has 1 or 2 things. And if I am, well that's their problem that they didn't go to the express lane!

I do if they have a small # of items & I notice. I get so let down when people don't offer when I have LO or when I was obviously pregnant for her.
