I let LO play alone in the living room while I'm in the kitchen. I can't see her, but I frequently peek my head around the corner to make sure she's okay. Shes also crawling everywhere now, so she makes her rounds through the kitchen frequently. There's not a whole lot she can get into.

Only in rooms where all shelves and dressers have been secured... that stuff really stresses me out!
In general, I don't like the kids being in rooms where I can't see them...

Yep! I have the bathroom door closed & anything I don't want messed with put away & just let her go! She's impossible to keep in one room these days anyways! lol

Yep...but he's 5. And talks CONSTANTLY, even when he's alone in a room, lol.

@Dandelion: haha. It's when there is peaceful silence in the house that you know something is amiss! At least, that's how it is in our house.
Yes, we do, but our kids are 5 & 8...
With the new baby coming, The TV will have to be mounted, otherwise he'll probably be allowed to wander for a bit (at the right age).

@Dandelion: Oh geeze do I sympathize! G was voted most talkative BY his classmate, which included 7 other 8 y/o girls!!! The only time there is quiet in the house is when he's outside or asleep!

@runsyellowlites: DS makes a 15 minute car ride seem like an hour, cause he talks and asks weird questions the entire time. He runs my ears off.

Guilty of this too often! The worse she can do though is eat dirt from a plant pot.

I used too when she wasn't able to move, I would leave her under her gym to play while I got ready or dinner going. But now she's rolling everywhere and we need to babyproof the place! So she's in the bouncer/exercauser/ect. if I need to get stuff done!

Kinda... I will sometimes put him in his jumperoo and run upstairs real quick and switch the laundry..

Since he's not mobile yet, I'll sometimes leave him on the floor and go to the bathroom. I've left him in a sitting position a few times and felt bad when he toppled over so I try not to do that anymore. I imagine i'll let him when he's more mobile as long as the room is baby proofed.

We have a montessori house, so I believe in letting my girl have the run of it. Most of it is totally childproofed - cabinets and shelves tied to the wall, everything from toddler height down safe for her. Living room book cases have toys and her books on the lower levels. Kitchen totally secured except things safe for her to play with. So I let her play wherever she wants. She usually wants to be near me, but if she's having fun in another room I'll just check on her from time to time.

I let my DD play by herself in her room. Will also let her watch a show on Netflix while I feed and put the baby down.

I don't need to see them, as long as I can hear them. DS is pretty glued to me at the hip, though, so he usually follows me everywhere or cries hysterically until I come back to get him.

DS is 15 months. Rooms he doesn't need in - bathroom, my office, our bedroom - either have their doors closed or gates up. Our house isso open, though, we just let him roam and keep an ear out for him.

Yes, but he's immobile. I will leave him under his gym while I make dinner or use the bathroom.

Yes but he's only 10 weeks old. I'll leave him in his gym or bouncer for brief periods of time when I'm tidying up/cooking. But I can see him when I'm in the kitchen because we have an open floor plan. If he needs me he'll just squawk

Yes. He plays really well independently. When he was younger, I had to be in the same room because he often got into trouble if I looked away just for a second.

I do the same as you - I let him play in the living room while I'm in the kitchen and peak in on him from time to time. However, now that he's older, he doesn't want me to be out of his sight, so he usually follows me if I walk away. We have some major separation anxiety going on!

Yes. When I'm in the kitchen I can't see the family room. She has an area with a bunch of toys and a few basket of toys in different parts of the house. She's learned pretty well to stay away from the fireplace. Usually I can hear her playing if it gets too quiet I peek my head in. When we are upstairs I close off th guest room and bathroom and let her roam between her nursery and our room.
