I don't like it much. Real French Onion Soup is way too onion-y for me, and the fake stuff (like canned stuff) is just weird and tasteless to me.

The ones they serve at restaurants are a bit salty for me, but I love the onion-y of it so I make my own version at home!

I love French onion soup but like to make it myself so I can control the saltiness. It's very easy to make; I love soup on a cold, rainy day.

I LOVE it. My husband makes a great version at home. It might just have been the restaurant you were at. I've had good and really terrible versions of it at different places.

I looooove French Onion soup. With the cheese and the bread and the yummyness?
I don't usually find it too salty, but then again I'm kind of a salt whore. (c:

I loooove it! I haven't tried making it myself yet. But it's probably one of my favorite soups!

No, I used the canned stuff for cooking but not to eat by itself!

Mmmm I love french onion soup, especially when I make it myself. I make a slow cooker version that has.... wait for it.... soy sauce and apple butter in it. Sounds gross but it is SO GOOD and not salty at all even with the soy.

I love it, though I could do without the huge honking pieces of bread that come in some versions.

I like it a lot when I make it at home. It is usually beef broth at a restaurant and I don't do that but I love that salty melty cheesiness. My mom used to make it quite a bit on cold nights growing up.

I love french onion soup! It varies so much from place to place though. I need to find a recipe that I like so I can make it at home. The canned stuff sucks. It's not even acceptable to call it food.

@Mrsbells: Did you have it at a real French bistro? It doesn't taste right without a side order of smug waiter.

I hate onions so I didn't really enjoy it. I made some burgundy french soup or something like that and scooped out the onions, then after it had finished cooking I still had to scoop up 2 full cups of onions and there was some left. Yuck!

I've actually never had it! What does it taste like?
