I LOVE getting flowers! My husband uses the florist that did our wedding, and he always makes me the perfect bouquet. It's probably because I met with him for a combined 4-6 hours over a year showing him exactly what I liked and disliked.

@Mamaof2: i still would appreciate the thought if the person didnt know. i have been able to keep an orchid plant in the house. it developed only in the last few years!

I like flowers but I would definitely prefer a gift card. DH is a teacher and gift cards are always his favorite of any gift. Also, mugs and little plates/tins usually get donated because he gets so many.

I love flowers, but i have to admit i'm picky about the bouquet. DH used to always buy me wild lilies, which i didn't like because of the pollen.
I think a small plant with the gift card would be nice.

I like receiving flowers! And I’m not picky about the bouquet, a $5 bouquet from the grocery store is still sweet. But a small plant and gift card would be nice too!
I just would prefer a cheap hand delivered bouquet than a very expensive delivery one- it’s so expensive and I always feel like it’s wasteful.

I think it's a nice gesture. I'll see the kids' teachers around Mother's Day and will get them flowers.
Personally, I prefer potted plants, but I've no idea if they like them so I always go with a regular bouquet.

As a teacher I would appreciate anything no -food! I like flowers, but if you were looking for something you could get a little succulent or aloe plant or flowering cactus. Non smell and they’re usually hardier and they’re cute. Ty can get a nice little pot for them.

I would appreciate flowers, sure, but I don’t prefer them. I liked gift cards the best!

Flowers are pretty but I'd say a gift card is the way to go. I have lots of teacher friends and they all prefer gift cards.

@Foodnerd81: Agree that I actually prefer “homemade”bouquets. When I’ve gotten delivered flowers I think about how much it probably cost and how much those same flowers would’ve been at the grocery store .

I actually don’t really like getting flowers. They are pretty and nice to look at but most of the time I feel like they just get in the way when we have limited space already and are annoying to maintain. Like changing the water and then dealing with the dirty vase once they start to rot.

I would love flowers, but if I was expecting a gift card (if you do that every year), then I might be upset depending on what the gift card was for.

Honestly, no. On occasion I have received beautiful arrangements, but the vases that come with and the ones I have do nothing for the flowers. Throwing away flowers is a gross and messy job.

I like flowers! I prefer a simple bouquet. I also like small indoor plants like a succulent.

I love flowers! My favorites are roses because they age well and I can dry them easily when they are really starting to wilt. Potted plants are nice but I have a hard time keeping them alive. If they are annuals I don't feel so bad about that!

I love flowers and I’ve never received them as a teacher. I’d appreciate it. I get so many gift cards (I’m not complaining), so it would make me remember that thoughtful student for being original.
It’s teacher’s appreciation week and one of my students made homemade lattes for all of his teachers️. I mean, is that not the sweetest?!

@josina: this is elementary school - so no expectations since its a different teacher every year

@Mamaof2: I was actually going to come back and add that it's a gift, so really no one should expect anything. I'd definitely give flowers if that's what you want to do!

I love flowers/plants, but I don't have them because I have indoor cats who eat anything green (and are why we can't have nice things ). Just a consideration, since there's a chance the teacher won't be able to keep them in classroom due to children's allergies / end of year.
