I prefer a driver who doesn't talk other than to get the information he needs - where I'm going. I get that the job could get boring, though. Especially if you work for a company that doesn't allow the radio or cell phones while driving!

I hate when drivers are chatty! I have had a streak of super-talkative Uber drivers, and I'm just like, please, don't make me small talk anymore!

Definitely prefer quiet! Every now and then I might have a taxi driver who I actually enjoy chatting with but most of the time, I prefer silence.

I like somewhere in the middle. I don't want someone talking my ear off, but the completely silent ones also freak me out a little.

Quiet!! One of the great things about NY is that cab drivers don't talk to you. And in fact they usually just are talking on their Bluetooth or whatever anyway!

I love chatty cab drivers! I have gotten lots of great insider info when travelling from cab drivers! We kept getting the same chatty guy when we were in Hawaii and he gave us all kinds of great information.

Usually quiet (in NY), however we recently went to Austin and all of our Uber drivers were chatty, and I enjoyed it!

I usually end up with super chatty but most taxi drivers who ask me all kinds of personal things, this is in Seoul. Almost never take taxis in the US in So Cal. When traveling though they can be a great source of info for tourists.

I love chatty drivers! Although, one definitely tried to get me to join his cult-like religion one time. That was uncomfortable.
