The park is 2 blocks away! Maybe we don't need a play set in our backyard!

We're a house away from the closest park/playgound and they just renovated the playground

Yup, close to several. We always walk to the park.

Yep! Our neighborhood has greenbelt trails that lead to the parks/pools. There's a park and a pool about half a mile away. We walk there often

Yep, we have a park on the Square which about a block away. We go to other parks in the neighborhood as well which have more equipment. I'll be sad when we move out of the city because the parks are great, but I'd love for LO and a future sibling to have their own backyard. We also drove to a city Conservatory to let LO play in dirt and enjoy the warm humidity on a cold rainy day. We'll be doing that a lot during the winter.

Yes, we live in a planned community with lots of parks, pools, tennis/basketball courts, skateboard parks, etc. All is walkable.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Yes, the neighborhood park is just across from our development entrance.
pear / 1992 posts
Yep! A few blocks away from our neighborhood park. We love that we're close enough to walk but and it was a big plus when we were searching for a home to buy.

I need to look for ours! We live next to a greenbelt, but haven't seen a park.

We live super close to a school and walk to the playground almost every evening in the summer. We live within minutes of so many great parks too. But we have a playset in the backyard anyway...I figure it'll be nice when baby #2 comes along and LO can play back there. Also it's nice to let her run around for back there when we are grilling out back or doing yard work. I love just letting her run around back there and she can swing with one of use while the other preps lunch/dinner

Yes, the borough park is probably about half a mile away, and includes a huge wooden play fort!

I live right above a park. I don't even have kids yet, but its still the greatest thing ever. Even if you do have an awesome backyard, its still nice to be able to walk to somewhere else for a change.

Yes, there are two nice ones within a 10-minute walk and I just heard about a third one I didn't know about before so I have to go check it out. And there's a massive park in our neighborhood that DH and I can walk to when we're feeling adventurous, but we'd probably need to drive with a LO.

yup! we can walk to a few, one of which is in the process of getting a facelift & is the oldest park in the US.

Yes. I live in the same community as lawbee11. Our neighborhood also has greenbelt trails that lead to the park and pool.

Yup, we are a 7 minute walk away. They recently added a bmx park, spray deck and tons of sand toys for the kids to play with. So sad that it's now winter! But our park also has a skating rink and hockey rink so i guess we have that to look forward to!

We recently moved and a park is not within walking distance anymore. So we recently bought LO a Cedarworks playset for our backyard.

We have trails to conservation land that lead to a town park, but there's no playground there.
honeydew / 7917 posts
Yes but it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk there. It's technically behind houses in my neighborhood, but I can't exactly walk through their backyard for a shortcut.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
I work at a park! It's about a 5 minutes drive away.
We will still probably put play equipment in our backyard. We have a huge 1 acre backyard that's mostly level. I want to make good use of it!

We back on to one (playground, walking trail, and soccer field), but the playground is for older kids, sucks! Two baby swings in it, and that is it. We have two others on top of this one that are a 10 min or so walk, so not bad and she loves one of them, every time we go near it, she totally knows where we are going!
We have some hand me down/given to us little tykes backyard stuff we will definitely use. Even though we are out lots walking the dog and love going to the park, there is added convenience of having the backyard too. We don't have fencing yet, nor have a finished deck, it will be great when we can complete the yard for us, and kids!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
Yep! Like a 5 min walk. It's amazing for our dogs since we don't have a backyard.

We're about 5 blocks away from the biggest park in Brooklyn. We live right near the lake so it's nice to take LO out to see the ducks and the swans.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
There's a park on our block, and a park and beach four to five blocks away. It's awesome.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
1 is walking distance (school playground) and the other is a 2 minutes drive but it's a huge pretty park that has a playground but also trails to hike, buffalo, reindeer, ect. for LO to explore!
grapefruit / 4823 posts
we have a park at the end our street. it's nice that it's so close
pear / 1769 posts
We have one right across the street! I love it. I hope when we move we also end up near one, but I'm not betting on it.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
there's a playground less than a block away.
we have a nice park/playground 1/3 mile from our new house.
pineapple / 12793 posts
We have an eight acre park across the street. It's really fabulous with a fountain, splash pad, flower garden, playground, dog park, and a ravine with a river running through it. Definitely an amenity I'll miss when we move.
