I tried using a cover but it got in the way since I still use a niooke shield so I said forget that and don't use a cover or anything. I try to be discreet but I don't feel the need to cover up.

I used a cover once, such a pain. Fortunately Toronto is very nursing friendly. I've never felt uncomfortable NIP.

I didn't use a cover but it took a few months for me to do it comfortably and most times I'd try to find a quiet, out of the way place to do it. But on a few occasions I did it right on the sidelines of a men's softball game...

Of course. I nurse wherever and whenever my baby needs it. I think it's good for people to see breastfeeding - it normalizes it for the next generation of parents. I've never used a cover.

I used a cover a few times but never bothered after that, it seemed to bother DD being covered up.

I used a A&A blanket around FIL, because I know it made him nervous. Usually I didn't though. I'd use nursing rooms and wasn't INYOURFACEBOOBS about it.

I wish I could get my LO to nurse under a cover, but he just won't! I'm pretty uncomfortable nursing in public, but I managed to position myself pretty inconspicuously when necessary.

I was never comfortable nursing without a cover. R hated the cover so I would just go in our car to nurse.

I started out always using a cover, but over time got a little more bold and will just nurse wherever, whenever. I'm still discreet about it, but I don't make myself crazy like it used to.

In the last week I've nurses three times in public without a cover. I use my don't care what you think face.
Kids gotta eat!

Depending on where I was and how comfortable I felt but yes especially when he didn't want the cover over him!

I always nurse with a cover unless we're somewhere like a doctor's appointment where I'm pretty much in the room alone.

Nope, but I wear the style nursing tops where you pull up and down so the top is still covered (http://shop.boobdesign.com/en/product/621/maternity-singlet-nursing-singlet). If I needed to I'd gladly pull out my boobs in public, but at DH's co-workers BBQ last weekend I did feel better being able to comfortably nurse (hate the cover) while not feeling quite so exposed.

I used a cover in the beginning with DS, but got rid of it after a few weeks. I've never used one with DD, but where I live now is extremely nursing friendly, I've seen more than one boob just hanging out!

Sometimes. It's a hassle and she rips it off, so I don't know why I bother.

No cover as the twins would never stand for it. But for some reason now, they like "hiding" under a blanket when they nurse. But at 2...whatever they want they do! I do try and not nurse them at the same time in public but sometimes I can't re-direct one or the other.

I always used a cover with Liam, but with the next baby I might not. I'm a pretty modest person and I don't like attention, but I do think it's important for people to see mothers breastfeeding.

I had a cover but I barely used it. I was only able to use it when LO was 0-3+ months old. Beyond that he got curious and annoyed when I covered him and he wouldn't nurse. Then I breastfed anywhere without. I just tried to do it as discreetly as possible and I had the right wardrobe for it.
Hanging out with the right mommy friends (who was very fearless and would treat breastfeeding as a very normal daily life act) was also very inspiring and helpful or I would not even be able to breastfeed outside of my house!

Nope. I did with DD1 but now with DD2, I just can't be bothered and I NIP whenever, wherever, without a cover.

@stargal: I never use a cover. Frankly, it's not my problem if someone is uncomfortable with me feeding my baby. I don't walk around with my boobs hanging out, but I see breastfeeding as a natural thing, so it doesn't occur to me to cover my baby while she eats.

I always use a cover. DD doesn't mind it and makes me more comfortable. DD actually gets excited when she sees the cover because she knows what that means!

I always use a cover unless I was somewhere private like at home or in a bedroom of a friend's house, changing room, etc.

Never use a cover. I don't eat under a blanket, why should my baby?

I used a cover for the first few months until DD started pulling it off and causing a scene - haven't used one since!

I'm usually coverless, because ain't nobody got time for that Seriously, though, I've tried and decided it wasn't really making a difference. I don't have any special nursing bras or clothes, either, because they all seem expensive and don't fit me right, so I don't think I'm terribly discreet either way.. With men who aren't dads or in the middle of restaurants I'm more apt to cover, but usually it's like a marginal effort using a napkin or my hand or something, lol.
watermelon / 14206 posts
No, but if I can't be discreet, I don't mind going to the car to nurse. We have a comfy van that doesn't cause too many distractions for M. He gets distracted really easily.

I do usually use a cover unless I'm in a pretty nursing friendly place (for example, we went to a lake in Seattle a few weeks ago - everyone is pretty crunchy there so I nursed without a care in front of a ton of people...it was liberating haha)

I used an A&A blanket at first, but when LO started pulling at it all the time, I mostly stopped. I tried using a cover a few times, but I felt it drew more attention than not using anything. Now, LO is so distracted, I rarely nurse in public and try to find a quiet room.

I don't use a cover. E plays with instead of eats. I try to be discreet but lately I have to find somewhere quiet he gets distracted pretty easy.

I never used a cover unless he'd get the sun directly into his eyes/face. Otherwise never...
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
No. It's just not comfortable for me. I have large breasts and I'm pretty much pulling them out completely in order to nurse.

No cover over here but more often than not I would go to the parent's room to feed (if one was available).

Every once in awhile I use an A&A blanket but most of the time I can't be bothered.

No cover. I wear a tank top under my shirt. Top goes up, tank goes down. So much easier.
papaya / 10560 posts
Mostly not. Just don't give an eff. Only time I do is in a noisy restaurant or somewhere she could get distracted--I feel like a cover drowns out some sound.
