I read that it's recommended that you offer your baby only one breast at a feeding to make sure they get the more nutrition dense hind milk. I'm so paranoid about getting mastitis again though since I've had it twice, I always pump if Olive only takes one breast at a feeding.
Do you nurse on both sides at every feeding or alternate sides at feedings?

It depends on how hungry my LO is. I usually just give her one side, but if she empties my boob and nothing comes out after 5-10 mins of suckling I'll give her the other side.

I never did until just last week. My boobs would feel so full that I would feed LO on just one boob, sometimes two feedings in a row just to make sure she was getting the hind milk. But since last week, she's been eating until my one boob was totally empty and would whine for more so I'll burp her and pass a few minutes to see if she really was hungry and if she kept whining for more, I'd offer the second boob.

I always offer both, my LO likes to eat! When be was younger it wasn't uncommon for him to just eat from one side, though.

I always offered both sides. My son wouldn't always want both sides, but I always tried to offer.

Only sometimes, usually I would just switch sides at the next feeding.

I usually make sure one side is fairly drained before offering the other breast. If they both feel very full then I'll make sure to offer the other one before she gets full to relieve some of the pressure. Most of the time she eats from both, and did especially when she was little.

I always offer both sides. Sometimes she doesn't seem interested in the second side, so I don't force it. She usually will eat longer on the first side and then only 5 minutes or so on the second.

I have had the same routine for quite a while now, which is partially why I have an amazing freezer stash at this point (600+oz). Her first feeding of the morning she eats on 1 side only and I pump the other side. The 2nd feeding she eats the side I pumped the first feeding, and I pump the side she ate from the 1st feeding. Then the remaining feedings she eats from both sides. My husband usually gives a bottle for one of her evening feedings and I also pump at that time.

My son has only ever taken one side, but very recently (he's 8.5 months) he has started taking two at bedtime. When I pump I do pump both though, which has led to a little bit of an oversupply (which I am NOT complaining about!).

I always offer both sides. I was sold on the concept when the first day I tried it LO slept through the night for the first time - and 10 hours sleep not that 5 hours they classify as "sleeping through"

I'd offer both (until Mavrick didn't want the right boob) so I pumped instead until my production was so low I was producing only from 1 boob.
If she's getting enough, then you don't need to.

nope she only eats off of one side bc Im producing enough to do that. IF I try to give her both sides she gets too little hindmilk and ends up with the green frothy poop

I started just giving the one side and she was full enough. Now I try to offer both but only after I know shes done with the first side.
