It has been somewhat of a struggle trying to conceive LO #2. I told DH that I had no plans on ever going on BC again. I was on depo after giving birth to LO. I regret ever going on depo because it screwed up my cycle. What are your plans if you struggled to conceive and you want another LO?
Do you plan on going back on birth control after having LO if you struggled conceiving?

I really don't know. This has been on my mind a lot lately, actually. I was totally okay with BCP for all the years I was on it until I went off to TTC DD, then I discovered how *fabulous* life was without and I swore I would never go on BCP again. Fastfoward several months and an endometriosis diagnosis... I basically have to be on BCP or be KU to prevent growth and pain. After DD was born and my pain returned, my doctor and I talked through all the options and I decided to go on a progesterone-only BCP until we were ready to TTC again. I don't think it messed up my cycles, but it made me a CRAZY person... depressed, anxious, super emotional. I ended up going off and starting to TTC earlier than planned (not that it mattered since I am still not KU...). I am NEVER doing that again. We *think* we want 3 kids, so once I have two, I may just stay off BCP awhile and see what happens. If my pain is terrible, I'll likely get an IUD.

YES. I am scared to death we'll be those people who go through IVF, have twins, and somehow end up with surprise number 3 really soon after. Everyone has a story of someone they know that it's happened to and it freaks me out! We only want 2 kids too so these twins are it for us!

Never again! I too was on Depo, and I still attribute it to my struggles ovulating, even though I've been off of it for over 2 years now. So not worth it! DH will be getting a vasectomy or else dealing with condoms forever, once we're done having kids.

I got Mirena after LO#1 was born. Since #2 will most likely be our last, and I have loved my Mirena, I will most likely get another one. We haven't started TTC #2 yet, so I don't know how well my cycles will regulate though. It took me nearly 9 months to regulate after coming off BCP

I'm thinking I may not. I was on the BCP since a teenager due to severe cramps and never really experienced life not on BC. After I went off, while TTC, my cramps weren't as severe as they used to be and I overall felt better (not to mention other added benefits). We also plan on having more LOs so I'm less afraid of getting KU -- if it happens it happens, although I'll probably try to to avoid DTD during fertile period (it took us 6 mo to get a sticky baby though so who knows how long it could take to get LO #2 and 3 and so on).

We are 100% one and done! Even though we struggled so much to be where we are now, we can't throw caution to the wind, either, because years ago we somehow got pregnant on BCP and don't want to find out if an accident might still be possible. It sounds crazy after all the treatment I went through but one or both of us will get snipped as soon as we can!

I'm definitely not going back on birth control pills! It took us 13 months to conceive LO after I had been on BC for 8 years. He's 3 months now and we're planning on TTC when he turns one. Until then, we're doing pull & pray/charting.

FX for a successful IVF this summer for #1, and then after that, we're going au naturelle for #2. If nothing happens in the next year or two, then we're done. But if something -does- happen, then it'll be a welcome surprise. We hope to have two kids, but I do NOT want to go through another round of infertility treatments.

I don't have a LO yet, but I'm pretty sure I never want to go on hormonal BC again if I can help it. I was on the pill for seven years, and felt like a completely new person when I went off. I'd like to avoid going back on it if possible.

I'm never going on BC again just because the hormones seriously screwed with me. I didn't realize how much they messed with me until I went off them and felt like the birds were singing and the sun was shining.

No! I went through IVF for LO #1 and didn't go on birth control after she was born. I thought we didn't need it but surprise. I still won't go on anything after this pregnancy. I hated hormonal BC and IUDs scare me. DH will get snipped when we are done having kids.

It took a year to conceive DS and I refused to go back on BCP after he was born. Once we were thinking about getting ready to try for our second it happened immediately. I really think the BCP is what made it take so long the first time around. Even though we're not sure about having a third I don't think I'll go back on BCP.

Probably not. The whole reason I went on bcp in the first place was bc of really bad ovarian cysts. So I went on them to keep from getting cysts and preserve the ovary and 1/2 that I still have. It took us almost two years to conceive the first time and i still haven't had a period since April of 2012. (L is almost 13 mos)

I will not go on BCP after LO #1. I am 38, so we will TTC for #2 around 9 months - 15 months after LO #1 is born in June. We will have to figure out BC if and after we are blessed with #2.

Never! If I manage to have another, we'll just go without after. Then my husband will have it done.

I will never go back on BC pills. I can't believe how hard I tried for 11 years to avoid getting pregnant and then, now, how impossible it seems to do so. I want more than one child. So if I can even have one, I will pretty much be trying for a second right away. Thereafter, I think it will be pretty darn easy to avoid getting pregnant without the use of BC pills if I, in fact, don't want to get pregnant.

I don't think I'll back on the pill. It took us 19 months to conceive this LO, and we're open to having another, so will probably just let chips fall where they may once she's a year old. In the meantime we use the combo of our presumed infertility, the fact that I still nurse 24/7, and sometimes pull and pray or condoms.
Once we have a 2nd, DH plans on getting snipped.

I didn't struggle (took 7 months) but I will never go back on bc. But that's mostly for acne reasons. The time it's taken for my hormones to balance out has been awful on my skin. I've always had bad skin. So we'll either be pulling and praying, condoms, or he'll be snipped when we're done. I'm not down with any form of IUD either.

I was on the pill for almost 10 years. Went off of them in June to see how my cycle would work off of the pill, started trying in January and got pregnant with LO in February.
After I had LO I got the Mirena IUD and had all kinds of problems with it - continuous spotting and weird cycles and pain. I got it out in July and we started trying in October. My cycles are shorter and I have a lot of spotting before or after my period. I feel like it messed with my cycle. I will never get another IUD. I am not opposed to going on the pill again. Once we are 100% certain we're done having kids my husband will get snipped

No to BCP, maybe to other options (implant style or our, not sure, would need to research). I was on BCP for 11 years. It clearly did it's job so that's good. But I was so worried what would happen going off. Funny thing is, I didn't gain weight, break out, get moody. Basically nothing changed. I asked my doctor today if that could've affected me more in the long run as we struggle TTC and she said no. But regardless I'm iffy about going on it until were 100% done having kids. Then we'll see.

no way. I also blame BCP for some (but clearly not all) of my problems, and when I had to do them for two weeks as part of my fertility treatments they made me feel like crap. when you read some of the articles on newer BCP it's kind of scary the safety questions that have come up too. DH has always been fine with condoms and so we'll do that instead to prevent.

@sandy: I was on depo and I felt like I bled for months. I finally quit because I was so tired of bleeding.

Yes! Both of ours took longer than we expected, but I am in no way ready for a third pregnancy any time soon. I'm interested in an implant or IUD, but will need to research it. We were just talking about it at dinner tonight since we will need to figure it out before our insurance changes at the end of the fiscal year this summer.

Yes absolutely, I will use birth control straight after baby born until I am ready for the next one. It may have taken us much longer than expected to get pregnant but at least we expected, I do not want to have a LO who was not fully planned for.
Would not go on depo but probably back on pill or possibly an iud. -
I can't decide. My husband votes we just see what happens without after the first one is born. I don't really want to go back on bc but I don't want babies super close together. Plus it is starting to look like I have hg with this pregnancy and I am not in any hurry to do it again. So maybe charting/pull and pray for awhile, once we're done we will take a permanent measure.

We did IVF to have DS and at my 6 week checkup my OB asked if I wanted to be on the pill and I told her "no need" We did IVF. She said she has seen way too many women who said that only to get preg very quickly..... so I got scared and went on the mini pill.
After about 3 months I went off then though thinking ok, IF we got pregnant then so be it.
It took until after I weaned but I DID end up getting pregnant w/o ART with my 2nd

No. We want to have more than one child and I still am wondering if the BC I was on (Depo then Nuva ring) had anything to do with it. Then again, I know plenty of people who conceived on both meds.
With the trouble we had, it's just easier not to go back onto BC.
