I was tempted not to throw DD a 2nd and I've thought about not throwing her a 3rd, but eh.
We plan on throwing parties for the kids until they turn 18.

Nope, we will do a big one for the first birthday and then maybe one a few years down the road. We will have a get together each year or do something special but it won't be more than immediate family.

Does having her grandparents and aunt/uncle over for cake count as a party? That's all I plan to do until she is in school and has friends of her own.

I think we will have parties every year until she decides she doesn't want one! They won't be as big as her first one though!

Yep! At least a family one every year till she is 18. But with my family that is 40+

No, didn't throw DD a 2nd or 3rd bday party… when she really makes friends of her own and wants one, we'll do more.

I haven't decided. Definitely not every year until 18. I'm thinking maybe evens or odds? And I'm only planning on hosting big bashes until double digits. She can have slumber parties or whatever when she's a teenager.

We will likely do a family thing at least every year. When he's older with friends we'll probably alternate having a larger fun party with a smaller cake and friends thing. I love birthdays and celebrating them so I plan to do something with him every year!

Yes! We invite family and close friends, and LO has a blast celebrating with everyone.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
I'm hoping not to! Just family birthdays until he gets old enough to have friend-birthdays.

We got a party every year unless we otherwise expressed that we wanted to do something else. In my house, you were boss for the entire day of & weekend after your birthday. We got to do whatever we wanted. It is so fun not only to be treated that way but to give others that kind of attention. Definitely something I intend to do with DD.

We do about every other year. 2 and 3 years were just a little celebration with my parents cause we were living with them at the time. He had a big one at 4 and then another when he turned 6. We just did a family thing at 5 and he probably won't get a big party this summer for 7 because we're moving an hour away.
But he does get to choose dinner every year...whether its something I cook or a restaurant to go to.

Probably just a family gathering with a party thrown in every couple of years. Plan might change when lo is in school though. Am undecided whether to do a 2nd birthday party this year - might just go out for the day instead and do a family dinner with the grandparents.

I hope to! It won't be something extravagant every year but we will have some sort of party.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
We will - I'm not into fancy or big parties so it's easier
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
I think we will likely have one every year once we live closer to family again. We'll see though.

I think we'll at least have a family get together, if not an actual party.
pineapple / 12053 posts
yeah, nothing huge like year 1, but definitely close friends and family!
kiwi / 673 posts
yep! definitely a party every year, not sure it will be as big as her 1st birthday party was, but family and close friends for sure!
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
I think we will skip having a party this year (turning 2) but prob will have a party every year after this
pomelo / 5298 posts
Nope, neither of us are big party people. Our birthdays are all close together and we are hoping LO will want to celebrate in some way other than a party. Perhaps a vacation instead!
grapefruit / 4400 posts
Not a PARTY party, but a family dinner or trip to somewhere fun (Disneyland, the zoo, etc.). We're only doing parties for 1st birthday, then once they're in school.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
We had a big 1st and 2nd birthday party but I'm not sure about having a big 3rd birthday. We're TTC for baby #2 and if I have a newborn I honestly don't think I'll be able to throw her a big party...I just know myself and I will probably have crazy PP hormones and all kinds of anxiety with having a newborn around lots of little kids in the winter. If I end up with a EDD after her birthday then I'm happy to throw her a big party. No matter what we'll get together with immediate family but just not sure about having all her little friends

We'll definitely do a party every year, even if its just immediate family.
nectarine / 2220 posts
Yep, we do extended family get together where the birthday person gets to choose their dinner and cake for every birthday. Sometimes people share if their birthdays are really close together. Since LO has a mid summer birthday I imagine we'll always do something for her.

Lol "I was tempted..."
We're not doing a 2 yr party. We're going to the zoo instead. When she gets older and wants to invite kids, then we'll do them every year.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
No. I'm planning on doing a big party for his 1st but then no parties until he's older and has his own friends and ASKS to have a party!
pomegranate / 3779 posts
We will probably do something every year, even if it's something small. I love planning and hosting parties. It's one of my creative outlets, so I don't see myself giving it up anytime soon.
