I used to pump every single time RJ took a bottle, and once he started sleeping thru the night and I was confident in my milk supply, I'd pump just once a night, before I went to bed around midnight. So the last nursing session would be around dinnertime, then he'd have a bedtime bottle, then I'd pump at midnight, then big morning nursing session around 6 or 7.

I'm weaning LO right now but when I had supply issues, I felt like i was constantly on an uphill battle. So I would nurse at 7am, pump at 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm and twice during the night, once around midnight/1am-ish and again around 4am. Those two sessions slowly became just one session at 1am (when I decided it wasn't worth the lost sleep).

I've read/learned that the highest milk production is early in the morning (1-5am?)....is there that much of a difference than pumping in the day time?

Yes, pump every night at around 11 or 11:30 before I go to bed. It stinks sometimes staying up late, but I like to keep my production up, especially now that DD is not nursing as much.

@enjollah: I don't pump that early but I do pump in the morning before nursing DD when I can & I always get a LOT then
