I don't! Our vet always asks if our dog is a good brother to our LOs.

Yes. I already tell my dog constantly how s he's gonna be a big sister and we're getting her a big sister bandanna to wear lol!

We tell our dog that he is getting a brother all the time... I don't think he gets it.

Yes, we talk to our dog all the time about how he's getting a little brother and sister. We also refer to the babies as his new best friends. Obviously he has no clue what's going on, but my husband and I think it's cute.

I always ask my dog if she wants to be a big sister She is my first baby, after all!

We tell the pets they are getting a sister I don't know if we'll tell our LO that the pets are her siblings though hah
pomegranate / 3503 posts
We do sometimes but our LOs obviously don't see our dog as a sibling.

We do! Probably too much. You hear a lot of "Maya go make your brother stop crying" and "Jack, tell your sister to come over here so you can pet her"

We sure do! She was our baby first, after all (for ten years!)
Our cat is going to be a great big sister!

I already do I just bought my future LO a onesie that says 'little brother'! And our dog has a shirt that says 'big sister'.

@Littlebit: when LO was tiny she had a onesie that said "my sister says meow!" And had a cat on it

I won't be. I cringe when people refer to my dog as my "baby" or when my ILs call themselves "grandma/pa" to him. I love my dog a lot, but he's not my kid.

@yoursilverlining: Ah I need to find one for my daughter! That sounds so cute!

I call my dogs brothers to each other, but I'm not sure what will happen when we have kids. Our friend's kids refer to their dogs as "my Rocky" which I think is adorable.

No LOs yet, but, yep, we consider our pets our kids and already have plans on how to announce a new addition to our family when we get pregnant.
Maybe a sign that says "New addition (or brother or sister) coming in XXX... this one won't have a tail!" Then with my dogs in the background or holding the sign. Yeah, we'll see if we can get my dogs to cooperate. We recently adopted another dog in December, so my friends will get it.

Yep. We've been telling our dogs about how they are going to be "big" sisters soon - they are 10 and 12 lbs

@yoursilverlining: And the search begins now! I already have 5 pages open searching for items on Etsy... I'm addicted!
watermelon / 14206 posts
Nope. But we refer to ourselves by first names for our dogs and Zeus. I have one cat I refer myself to mama but I don't call her my kids' sister.

no. way.
he's on my list right now anyway. the dog, that is.

No LO's yet but I sometimes refer to my puppy as "baby boy" and I've caught my DH calling him that too sometimes. My dad and in-laws all call him grandson but my mom HATES when people use those names for their pets. She once told me to tell the dog she said hi, but not from grandma, just from some nice lady! haha
