I'll probably be your one and only who regrets getting them. We didn't do them professionally since like MrsBells, we have a DSLR. My DH took a whole bunch of them and even put one in the picture calendar he gets me every year. Thank God it's in January and it's a small one. I covered it with a post-it. I hated looking at any pictures of me pregnant. I'm definitely a weirdo though and probably the only one.

I didn't have professional pictures of me taken during my first pregnancy or this pregnancy and I didn't take 'bump' pictures either. In fact, I try to edit out most of the photos that show me pregnant from our photo books just because I hate how I look pregnant (shallow, I know). I don't think my kids will miss it, considering I never asked my mom to show me pictures of her pregnant with me.

Now as for the Newborn pictures, I do regret not having gotten some really nice newborn pictures of my son when he was born. My dad, who used to be a photographer, took some pictures when he was a few weeks old that I like a lot. I may try to get newborn pictures of this next one, or at least newborn pictures with his sibling since I think that's important!

I made a conscious decision NOT to get them done because I didn't enjoy pregnancy, didn't look or feel good and didn't feel compelled to have reminders of it.
We did newborn portraits and 1 month portraits (package), and plan to keep doing them at 6m, holidays, and 1 year.

@NaturallyCathy: So glad I wasn't the only one. I think I might have one picture I like that was taken of me pregnant. Other than that, I hate them all. My DH wanted a few for when our son got older and we could talk about when I was pregnant with him. Still so mad he put that in my calendar! Haha.

@2PeasinaPod: I'm just glad you could cover it with a post it note! I would be a little irked too but it's the thought that counts. Right? That's what we keep telling people?

I didn't get them and don't regret it. I would hang them in my house so to me it's a total waste of money.

We got newborn photos done and we will also do professional photos at six months and then every year around her birthday. She is a late Nov baby so her birthday shoots will also be our Christmas card each year.

I thought maternity photos were lame and vain but for some reason wanted them once I was pregnant ha! They're mostly my husband and I so its special to me that they're the last if us as just a family of two. I didn't spend much money in them and don't regret doing them.

I never did and I don't regret it. I'm not sure where I would display them, if I would at all!

@QBbride: That's something I'd consider, only because it's been several years now since our wedding and I'd like a do-over.

Someone I know has a mouse pad of her maternity photo and that kind of turned me off to the concept.

I had them done and am so happy I did. I really felt beautiful for much of my pregnancy and it was such a special time. Honestly, when it comes to pictures, it's not always about "what will I do with these once I have them done?". Sometimes it's just about documenting a really momentous time in the life of your family. One of the best pieces of advice I've ever gotten (from an older family member), is that when you're old and gray, you can't suddenly take pictures of yourself when you were younger. That time is gone. I really hate having photos taken and am really self conscious, but I tried to remind myself that this was an important part of my life and it should be documented.

I was super on the fence about having them done (in my opinion it seems the shoots are great or terrible) but after I got the pictures back I was SO happy we decided to do them. We wanted to do more of a 'couples shoot' I guess - where I happened to be pregnant as well. I did some just of me for DH which he really likes and some silhouettes which I absolutely love. I think I'll look back on them fondly and remember how I felt during my first pregnancy.

I think it totally depends on the style of pictures you would like and if you feel confident that your photographer can convey that.

I did the same as @Mrs. Blue: we had family photos done that also happened yo be when I was pregnant. Some of them had my tummy but most were just family pictures. We I'd take one of me and my husband with her name in the sand. I liked them but I do look back and see all my bulges and puffy face. I try to focus on the cute ones. My daughter nam I lill so I had the boys each hold one lilies. Those turned out super cute. I didn't o any with my twins and I Dont really regret it. Towards the end I looked like jabba the hut.

Didn't get them and don't regret it! I wouldn't have known what to do with lots of pics of pregnant me.

I'm really excited to do them in the spring! I share an office with an amazing wedding photographer and she's also a good friend, so I know she'll be excited to do them for me too!

I had them done- I loved how they turned out. We did a couple with me and DH, but it was more about having some really gorgeous photographs taken of me at a time when I felt really beautiful. We didn't do naked shots or bare belly, just me in a long dress in a meadow.
