I mostly just remember feeling bored a lot more. With the internet and smartphones, I'm rarely bored. Probably both good and bad.
Do you remember life before the internet?

We had Internet access pretty soon after it was made commercially available, but we only got 10 hours a month in our package. I can't imagine only being able to use the Internet for 10 hours! I read so much more then than I do now though. And watched a lot of tv.

Yes, and I remember the very first time we dialed in to AOL. That modem sound will forever haunt me.

Barely. I was 10 when we got our computer at home and I've wasted my life away on the internet ever since.

A lot of reading and watching TV.
@aprk: I agree - isn't it crazy that the next generation will never know that sound!?!?

I think we first got AOL when I was 17, summer before my Senior year of HS
Before that, I read a ton, spent HOURS on the phone with my friends, I was an avid sketcher, went to the mall with friends, watched some tv, did homework. Oh, and I wrote tons and tons of letters! I moved a lot as a kid and went to sleep away summer camps, so I had tons of "pen pals". I really miss genuine snail mail!
Sometimes I do get bored with the Internet. There are times when I can't think of anything I want to look at online (after I'm caught up on HB, of course)

haha, yes! I remember spending a lot of time on my bike and playing outdoors with my friends!
Even once we got the internet, I was only allowed to use it for an hour a day (at least in the beginning), so it wasn't all that time-consuming for me. I read a lot (still do) and watched TV and played with toys.
When I'm at home, I'm not actually on the internet all that much. I'll check my e-mail a couple times and check out Hellobee in the evening, but mostly I only use it if I'm watching TV and want to look up an actor or something. Otherwise, I'll just read a book, watch TV, chat with friends, hang out with the Hubs, or whatever.

Yes LOL I remember using the phone book a lot more and 411 also. Now we just look it up on fiances smart phone. I rarely use the internet at home though. I'm on the computer all day at work, I have no interest getting on the computer at home.
And I feel like I was older than some on here when the internet really became a big deal (post high school for me...)

Yes, I think more of my life was lived without internet than with at this point!

Yup! I remember the good ol' AOL days when my mom would make us set a timer and we'd each have 30 minutes online. Hahaha.
I read so much, played outside with friends, and actually wrote letters.

We didn't get a computer until I was 17, so I definitely remember! I don't remember being bored at all. I would hang out with friends, have sleepovers, or do crafts or read or write poetry by myself late at night in my bedroom lol. I wish I could hang out with myself and enjoy that kinda stuff but I so often default to the computer or TV when DH isn't home! I miss those Internet-free days.

Barely! My dad got me an AOL account when I was 8! (Granted, this was in the early 90s - before everyone realized how dangerous the internet could be.) As I recall, they had a "kids only" section that I used to play around on. I still played outside a ton though, and I watched a lot of TV. I didn't start becoming hooked on the internet until I was in middle school... once everyone got AIM!

We didn't get our first computer until I was in middle school! And in high school, I had to go to my friend's house to "surf the net" (aka, wait 30 minutes until we actually got through on her AOL connection). Good times.
I do miss actual research though - there was always something rewarding about finding supporting information for a research paper by using the card catalog at the library.

@ladyfingers: I kinda miss is too! I used to actually have "hobbies", haha.

I remember! I was 17 when we got our first computer. Remember when we actually had to go to the library to do research for a paper??? Now so much of it is online.
