I remember life without internet. I rarely used the internet in high school and most of my work came from reading non-fiction books and going to the library.
I think I was happier prior to the internet.

I don't ever remember not having Internet. the first thing I knew how to type was the dial up password!

Yep! I read and listened to more music. Same happiness. I love having friends in my computer. I may have become more reclusive since finding the Internet!

I do remember life without the internet.
I'm happier now! Met my husband through the internet!

Yes in high school I only got it near the end. That was also before everyone had cell phones too. So we (my friends) called each other from home phones and pay phones just to make plans to meet. We spent hours in Blockbuster choosing a VHS video to watch. We also just called each other to chat. I had cable so probably watched more random tv than I do now. I also probably read a lot more and spent more time on school work. I don't think happiness is related.
Though my husband and I got close through chatting on MSN even though we met at grad school. We often made plans to hang out thru chatting online that we might not have otherwise done. And I found his profile on a dating website which made me look at him differently at school

Thank God there was no such thing as camera phones or social media during my first year of college.
And I totally remember life before the Internet. (Does that make me old?!) at some point my mom got a computer with dial up AOL. But I was never patient enough to sit around and wait for it to connect. I would always rather play outside with my friends. Even when I got older, I had very little interest. Being outside was so much more appealing. Needless to say, I can still barely turn a computer on. I know next to nothing about computers.

I remember! I hung out more with my friends. And we talked on the phone A LOT more too!

Yes. I only really started using it a lot when I went to college. (Fall 1998.) Before that, I used it mainly to email my best friend when I moved.
As for happier? I can't say. Life in general is so different now, and it's definitely NOT the same as when I was a kid! I do think I spend too much time online, and get caught up on it very easily. Sometimes it makes things too accessible, and for me at least fuels the tendency to get caught up in things.

@Pepper: lucky! We didn't get AOL until I was in high school. I still remember my sn!
Life before Internet meant lots more time outside, reading and going to the library. It also meant using the dictionary & encyclopedia.
My brother said pre-Internet, we thought dad was THE smartest man on the planet. Now we know he just made answers up on the fly. We love using our iPhones to google his answers to see if he's right!
My brother & DH want to make a website called dadfacts.con, kind of like wiki, to send our kids to. Haha!

My dad is an early adopter so we had Internet before all of my friends. I remember in 7th grade trying to figure out what the big deal was. It wasn't until college that my friends got email and messenger.
I will say my life is definitely better post-Internet. Now I can know any dumbass fact within seconds. And connect with my long distance family easily and cheaply. There is no way I could live this far without Skype/FaceTime.

I didn't get it until high school and my parents highly regulated it, so yes, I totally remember. I think I did a lot of reading and playing with my animals. And hanging out with friends!

Yes! I had IRL friends...lots of them.
We had internet at home since I was in middle school at least. My parents hogged the family computer, so internet wasn't fun until college.

Yup! I even remember life without cable...we didn't get it until I was in HS. The company stopped running the line at our neighbors house.
I was a competitive athlete so I was always training. I wouldn't have had time to surf the internet or watch a ton of TV. I practiced before and after school (only went half day) with hours of travel time daily, so all that was left in the evening was homework and sleep.
