We do. We read to her and then cuddle, sing and rock until she falls asleep. Sometimes she is still drowsy when she goes into her crib but I like to cuddle her until she falls asleep.

I said yes, but we're working on transitioning DS away from rocking. I'm hoping when he remembers how to put himself to sleep his 2 hour midnight parties will end too...

I voted sometimes because I used to rock her to sleep. Thankfully now she can put herself to sleep by sucking her thumb, but even so, she's just too heavy for me to rock her now.

Yep!! Except we don't actually rock...we walk around the house in the dark and pat her bum.

Yes!, I rock my DD to sleep every night. I did the same with my son too. I do the "drowsy but awake" technique so I rock her until she's drowsy and then I lay her down and pat her until she falls asleep so that she learns to fall asleep on her own. I did the exact same thing with my son and eventually I was able to just lay him down, pat him for a little while and walk away. I love rocking her to sleep. It's my most favorite time of the day. I love those quiet moments where it's just me and her, rocking, singing softly, smelling her skin, kissing her face. Eventually they get too big/heavy to rock. Those days go by way so fast!

Sometimes. We're trying to get away from it because it stopped working well. I don't really enjoy having to rock for an hour to get a 45 minute (or less) nap. But sometimes she just wants to cuddle, and I'm totally okay with that

I wish! DS is almost 11 months and thinks he's such a big boy, he doesn't like to be held like a baby anymore, haha
I am able to rock him to sleep if he's especially tired or if he's sick.

Not anymore. She's 15 months so she's over that. I give her a sippy of milk, brush her teeth, and put her in the crib.

Sometimes she goes to sleep on her own with a pacifier and sometimes we have to rock her

Yes and we're trying to wean her off of it so she can fall asleep on her own.

C has never liked being rocked to sleep (or rocked at all, for that matter). She's not even 4 months and she hates being cradled

I used to have to bounce her to sleep every night. Now I just nurse her, then sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, kiss her, and put her down. If she wakes and fusses during the night I'll go in an bounce and sing to her to calm her down, but I still put her in the crib awake.

Initially we didn't have to but once she hit her first sleep regression we did. She's now 6 months and we don't anymore, we're working on her being an independent sleeper.

I rock her for about 2 minutes to gauge whether she's sleepy, and then put her in her crib awake. I'll sing to her and pat her for a few minutes and leave.

I have been thinking about this lately! I always thought rocking was so common, but a girlfriend of mine said that if you DON"T rock your baby, she won't become dependent on it and she becomes easier to put down. She never rocked her kid and she is able to go to sleep so easily, without this giant routine. Gave me food for thought, for sure.

I do rock him for a few minutes before bed, but really isn't into it! If I rock him and sing to him he starts laughing and cooing! Wired baby.

Not anymore! We used to, but then when he learned how to fall asleep on his own, we don't anymore.

I did when she was a newborn, but not anymore. She goes down awake.
