All the ones with negative stories like moms/nannies/rapiest murdering children etc I cannot deal with. If I see the title I don't even click on them.
Please tell me I'm not the only one

Yes, sometimes. Especially the M/C ones, I try not to. After my own experience, I'm so scared of it again and scared to be jinxed. But, I know that it's often written in need of support and I might read/respond to it.
But yeah the media stories you mention, I don't like them. Makes me sad.

I'm sorry! I totally regret even posting that. It was one of those things that I just couldn't deal with alone (husband is still at work), but I now realize that all I have done is make more people freaked out.

@meredithnyc - Don't feel bad! That must be SO scary since it's in your own area! DH sent me this scary media story about a woman jogging (in a really nice area) last night, got randomly stabbed all over. *shudder* It made me scared because my sister and cousin live in the same city. Ignorance is bliss, but it's also important to be aware.

@shopaholic: Yeah, I think maybe that's part of it. All I can think is that LO and I were out enjoying a lovely walk in the park and enjoying the changing leaves when this poor woman came home to such horror and sadness - and not far from where we were. I'm usually someone who can take handle such things, but for some reason I just can't stop thinking about this

@meredithNYC: oh it's okay... I know some people like to be more "aware" than others. I live in a REALLY safe city, so I'm totally happy to be ignorant. Don't apologize
@luckypenny: same... they will literally haunt me for days.
@mrbee: agreed. I never click on those ones... but didn't you say you read every thread on HB?

@Coco Bee: I do read the dead baby threads... but I actually no longer am able to read every single thread. We got over 3k comments last Thursday...

@mrbee: oh my goodness!! that's insane... for that reason are you guys now considering moderators to help? I know HB is a really positive place though so I don't necessarily see a need for it anyhow.

@Coco Bee: No need for moderators yet... maybe in a year or two!

I usually do, but then maybe don't read the article based on the comments.
