I used to pick up calls now and then but I just got so many telemarketing calls on my cellphone! I started googling the numbers and labeling them on my phone so when they called later it shows up as "cruise line spam" or "boat horn spam". Been surprised that most of the telemarketing calls come from the same few numbers! A few still slip through.

Now I only pick up for numbers I don't recognize when it's a local area code calling during the school day - could be the kids' preschool or Kindergarten. Or if I'm expecting a call from someone.
