We have a couple near us, things like bouncy houses, Chuck E. Cheese's, play areas at the mall, etc...but we almost never go to them. They kind of gross me out, and my kids can't do a lot of the things on their own yet, and with a million other kids it becomes more work than fun, and can overwhelm the girls. Maybe it will be better once they are a little older.

We go to the children's museum a lot and a bounce house place frequently as well as the indoor trampoline park. It's nice in the cold weather to get out of the house and burn off some energy.

Maybe once every 1-2 months and when they attend bday parties. They are lots of fun for my almost 3 and 4 year old but we are not germphobes!

If we go, which is rare, it's right when it opens and then we stay for about an hour or so (when the crowds start to roll in). Definitely not my favorite activity.

We've been to an indoor play space once. Usually I don't want to spend the $.

@autumnlove: the last time we went to a bounce house place it was so ridiculously busy, kids were pushing and LO couldn't climb up anything so in that instance it just wasn't worth the hassle. We do calmer places like the library
they like to play there.

Not really. We used to do MyGym but cancelled that membership. We only do bounce house places or trampoline parks for bday parties. Other than that we don't have a lot of indoor play spaces around here.

Not really. The few places by mare $12-15, I think it will be more worth it when DD is a little older (she's almost 15 mo).
I can get children museum passes from our library every month so we'll be doing that.

@Bao: we had the same experience when we went to a discount day and my LOS had a bad time because it was so crowded. We prefer to pay full price during the week!

we belong to a private one near our house. we live in the city, so it's nice to have a place with all the crazy playroom toys. i don't love it because it can get crowded, but it's a nice option to have and i can meet friends there for a playdate and not have to be quite as vigilant as at the park.

I mostly go once every 2 months to have an indoor play date. There is a small one near our house. I avoid mall play spaces... I totally get grossed out by how many kids are there at once.

We have a membership to the Inside Playground and Legoland. In Boston we're stuck indoors for many months and live in a tiny townhouse.
We're not afraid of germs, put that immune system to work!

We used to go to the children's museum a lot, but since I stay at home, I was able to avoid the super crowded days (rainy weekends, school holidays). I'm sure she has gotten sick from there plenty of times but they do sanitize a lot! I actually feel like she gets way more germs from the library.
We haven't been to any other inside play spaces. There aren't many that convenient to me and I don't like big crowds.
@rachiecakes: what age do you think legoland is worth it? C likes the big giraffe outside but we haven't been in.

We like to go to the mall playground a lot because it's free and he can burn off energy. He loves sliding over and over. There's a pretty nice paid play space in the neighboring town but we haven't been since last winter. He was a little too young last time and it was kinda crazy because of the awful winter. But we should try it again.

We love indoor places! We'll be members to Gymboree for a while especially with a new baby. We go to open gym in addition to the weekly classes. We'll sign up for the children's museum when the baby is older. My DD1 loves Chuck-E-Cheese! We go about once every 2 months or when there is a birthday party invite. We drive further out to go to a cleaner one. Some are newer and cleaner than others.

Definitely! I am off in the summer and take full advantage of Gymboree and the mall play area- they save my sanity when it is too hot to play outside. Last week we discovered the indoor trampoline park and I am already planning to go back this weekend.

We take him to the indoor trampolines about every 3 weeks; he looooves it and the section for his age group is only $4

Yep, every couple of weeks! We aren't germaphobes though, but I'd probably reconsider if we were. I actually just found a church near us has an amazing indoor playground that's open to the public and free, so We will definitely check it out!

We've been to the childrens museum a few times and frequent the library and the natural history museum in our neighborhood. We go to a lot of indoor, drop-in classes at a tot campus (music, art, cooking, science) nearby. Otherwise, we're outside. We rarely have extreme weather.
Indoor play spaces don't bother me as far as germs go, but I just feel like the kids are always that much bigger, pushy and aggressive. Maybe it is 100% our luck and we've just been to duds. I don't want to be that parent halfway up the inflatable pirate ship breaking up a tussle, but I have always feel like I have to majorly helicopter. Perhaps someday we'll find an indoor playground that's zen themed.

LO is only 7 months so we haven't gone to very many but we did go to a Gymboree play date with a coworker of mine. since it was our first time going we got in for free. Shortly after that LO came down with a cold that turned into croup so I have vowed never to go back!!!!

Yes, we go to one about once a month. My opinion of them swings wildly between "absolutely not, they're disgusting, no more germs" and "if even one other kid from daycare goes this week end we're getting these germs anyway."

This thread made me wonder what they have in our area- there's a free one nearby (in a church) that looks really fun! So looks like we'll be checking that out soon.

Yeah, we'll go. My kid is right at the age that she's bored with the baby area, but too small to go up into the structure without a ton of help from me, so I don't love it. We're in an area that it rains 200 days a year, so they're a popular thing here for sure.
