When reading to my girls I spend more time talking about other things in the book than actually reading the words on the pages. I especially do this with longer books, because their attention span is so short. For example I will say things like:

-How many birds are on this page?
-Can you find the blue fish?
-What is the bear doing here?

Things like that, I really think it helps them learn in a fun way. Making up silly voices also grabs their attention as well. I started doing this when I realized a few pages into a book they were getting distracted but I still wanted to have that time to read to them, interact and cuddle!

Do you talk about the things in books with your LO, asking them questions etc or do you just strictly read the book? Is your LO good overall about sitting and listening to a full book, even longer ones?
