ETA: i forgot to post the link to the article i was referring to!

http://www.theloop.ca/showbiz/celebs/article/-/a/2768598/Alanis-Morrisette-s-former-nanny-sues-for-unfair-working-conditions

I am not "taking sides" regarding what this article is about (Alanis's nanny is suing her), but after reading it, two things stood out to me: First, the comment about Kim K (as sarcastic as it was) "Can you imagine Kim Kardashian getting up in the middle of the night to soothe a cranky four-month-old when she’s got to look hot for the paparazzi the next day? " -- so this imples that Kim (and other celebrities) don't wake up during the night with their babies?

And second, the article says that Alanis's nanny had shifts from 9pm to 9am - implying the same thing, that Alanis was not the one caring for the baby during the night.

Regardless of what I think in general about having someone else care for your baby on a regular basis like that - during the night so you can get your beauty rest (obviously when you have to work during the day, it's a different situation) - it made me wonder how they can get away with this if they are breastfeeding, because basically they can't. So I wonder, do you think most celebrities opt out of breastfeeding because they can afford a nanny around the clock and they want to maintain their celebrity appearance and lifestyle?

And would you (breastfeeding or not), hire someone to take a 9pm to 9am shift to care for your baby so you can sleep? I wouldn't. If i need a night off, that's what DH is for! Otherwise I enjoy my nighttime cuddles with LO, no matter how hard it is drag myself out of bed every night. And I see it as my responsibility as a parent - it is part of what I signed up for in having a baby.
