Do you think the recent events will lead to gun policy change?

I think it will. I think this shooting is different in some significant ways - children were killed and it happened in a blue state where you are less likely to have locals vocally against it. Pres. Obama's speech last night makes me think a policy change is on his agenda.

My perspective:

I grew up near Blacksburg, VA and lost a former classmate in the VT shooting. To be honest, I didn't want to hear people arguing about policy either. I just wanted to mourn. But I also realize that it shouldn't be me or people like in my emotional state calling the shots. And maybe if something had been done then, this could have been avoided. And now I cringe when I hear "don't politicize this" because that itself is a political statement.

Now, I live in an area that's *very* hunting friendly. And I am totally OK with that. I would be VERY happy for a friend to tag and elk this year and pass along some of the meat to us! Husband and I are more fishermen. But I don't know anyone who hunts with an automatic assault rifle.

What do you think? Do you think this will change policy?
