I saw an article about SBX doing mobile ordering and they said you can tip your barista from your phone.
I have never tipped at SBX - have you?

No, but I should. Especially when my favorite barista sees me and finishes making my drink while I'm paying. He is awesome! I don't see him often anymore because I changed my commute. Makes me sad.
Oh, the other things is I don't ever have cash on me, so it's hard to tip. Wish there were other ways I can show my appreciation.

I don't. I mean, if I pay with cash and have some change I might, but I usually pay with card. I sort of feel like paying $4.50 for my coffee is enough…? Also they are not like servers who only get paid $2.13/hr.

Only when I go inside. I don't tip when I go through the drive-thru.

I don't normally. I used to when I was a regular and they'd have my drink ready and waiting when I got to the register!
I sorta wish they had a tip jar where you pick up the drink. Maybe it's lame, but if I'm going to tip for my coffee I'm going to do so because it's done quickly and correctly... and not just because you took my order and money.

No. I'm English so tipping is not à big part of my culture but I don't feel the need to tip someone for making me a drink that is already $$. It takes them 2 minutes! I'm a bad customer!

Only if I am paying in cash and have change. Then they get the coins....and that is probably more insulting than not tipping at all, I think.

For Starbucks, I don't. For my local shops, if I get an espresso drink, I do. No tip for just pouring coffee.

@looch: I know. Sometimes I really want to put my change in the tipbox but I feel so lame doing it.

I worked there in college and we DID (in Oregon at least) have a small amount taken from our hourly wage (about 50 cents per hour) to account for tips, so tips were very helpful in making up that difference. It's not as drastic as a lot of restaurant servers who are massively underpaid and depend on tips heavily, but it was always nice to receive your full pay. So yes, if I pay with cash I try to give them a buck.

Yes. I tip at all coffee shops that I go to because I am usually a repeat customer and want to establish that relationship. Whether I pay with a card or in cash I always tip at least $1 in cash.

Yep! I'm a former barista, so I remember getting the envie of cash at the end of the week from all the tips split. It was me and DS's fun money when I was a single mom, so I like to pay it forward, now.

I do not tip. I don't see how it is warranted as they all make minimum wage or higher. You don't tip the workers at McDonald's or store associates at the mall so why tip someone at Starbucks? I feel like the expectation of tipping for everything has gotten out of hand. Companies should be responsible for paying their employees, not the customers on top of what they are already paying. I do tip waiters and bartenders as they do not make minimum wage.

Only when I see my favorite baristas who always get my drink perfectly right!
