We go through a lot of paper towels.. -.-
I've been trying to use more dish and hand towels though.

I try not to! My parents use so much and I always scold them.

@artbee: @Andrea: I know. I ended up grabbing all of the wash cloths and small towels I have and I keep them in the kitchen now!

@chopsuey119: I just always feel like after I use the dish cloth it's dirty, and so it's easier to just pick up a paper towel and throw it away. Plus right now they're hard to get to because you have to bend over to get to them, and I'm not allowed to do that. Maybe after my recovery I'll be able to put in more of an effort.

@artbee: Yeah. I pretty much use the towels once or twice and throw them in the wash too. I like drying my hands with a towel though! I can dry many many times before washing that towel!

OMG, DH uses more paper towels than anyone would ever think is humanly possible. We go through them so quickly. Usually we're pretty good with green practices in our house, but paper towels are a major exception.

Not really because we have a drawer in the kitchen with dish and hand towels. I mainly use paper towels for blotting or when we're frying stuff.

I love paper towels...They're so lush and dry everything all up! If I'm not careful, I can easily go through an entire roll in 1-2 days. Drives hubs nuts.

@chopsuey119: yes, and i also use large sponges to clean the counter tops rather than paper towels. after i started using those to clean up minor spills, it cut down on a lot of paper towel usage.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@Andrea: Oooh. Great tip! Must pick some sponges up.

We do but usually just for cleaning up floor spills. We have a sponge for the counter tops.

I don't like our hand towels at all they tend to retain icky smells. I always have to wash them with baking soda and vinegar and sometimes it doesn't even help... sooo I use a lot of paper towels as a result.
I want to buy some nice hand towels from Williams-Sonoma!

I do because I'm a germophobe, so it makes me feel better even though it's a bad habit.

We do. We have hand/dish towels that we use but my DH really likes paper towels, We also use a boatload for our dog. She uses trays in her dog room (bad habit we know) and my DH has decided she prefers paper towels to go potty on rather than newspaper. Oy.

No, maybe two rolls since November? That is when I decided to cloth diaper and cut down on paper towels! We use a lot of kitchen towels, tags, and cloth napkins.

We use very little paper towel, maybe a roll every 1-2 months. We use a lot of kitchen towels, and just wash them frequently. We probably wash a load of kitchen towels 1-2 times per week.

Not really. I actually don't remember the last time we changed the roll, it was long enough ago. We use dish towels, hand towels, and flannel cloths for counters and dusting. We use cloth napkins, too.

We do. We also use rags, dish cloths and washcloths a lot too, though. I'd say we have a happy medium. He used to always use paper towels as napkins for dinner until I invested in a ton of clothes napkins that are easily washed.

We do, we use rags also -- but I don't like letting it longer because of the germs/smell. DH is an even bigger germaphobe, so between the two of us, we're not very "green" when it comes to paper towel usage!

yes!!!!! well the hubs more than me.
I try and teach him to use rags but he fails at it all the time.

Yes, we use a lot because of the dog! She is always causing a mess somewhere that needs to be wiped up.

we use these blue cloths from walmart that act as paper towels but can be rinsed and washed and reused multiple times, so it cuts down on how much paper towels we use

We're pretty good about paper towel usage. Clorox wipes and toilet paper on the other hand... Yikes!!

I try to be good about using rags but the hubs can go through a roll of paper towels in just a few days. I have no idea how that's even possible!
