I always see a lot of recipes for baking in mason jars. I also see cute party inspiration for using mason jars as glasses at parties. Personally, not only do I not own that many mason jars, but I don't have enough space in my house to put that many jars out for guests. Plastic or paper cups that stack up seem to make a lot more sense to me. I do like the idea of being able to reuse them and not creating trash, but it just doesn't seem practical in a little space.

I use them every Xmas for my food gifts (homemade Baileys and cookie-recipes-in-a-jar)-- I'd like to use them at home for drinking glasses, but they take up too much space!

@HabesBabe: My sister made all of my family gifts that were in all sorts of different jars. She put pancake mix, granola, tea, etc. in them. I loved it because I could reuse the jars after, both at home and regifting.

@artbee: I would be afraid of the jars exploding if I baked with them! This is the first I've heard of actually using them as a baking vessel... I just Googled it and it looks like I'm behind on yet another trend! It just seems like a PITA to eat out of them.

I have a love hate relationship with glass. I hate when glass breaks.. Shards, shards on the floor are the WORST!

It always looks so cute but I have never done it at home. There is a restaurant by me that serves drinks in mason jars and I think that is just way too much liquid to drink.

I have so many regular glasses that I have no room for mason jars. I have some in the pantry with this and that in them but they're all being used. If they're not being used, they get gifted or recycled.

we use mason jars for our pantry. We keep oatmeal, rice, beans etc in them! I also use them as vases and candle holders. LOVE mason jars!

@Andrea: I love when they serve drinks in mason jars! I drink a ton of water at restaurants. :T I'm always thirsty!

I always think it's so cute when I see drinks in jars, but I don't have enough space for that. I use them for storage--homemade sauces, soups, etc. I've baked in jars before, too, but they were all gifts. I made mini cakes and bread puddings in jars for Christmas with instructions on storage, shelf life, if they should warm it up, etc.

I find them hard to drink out of, with the threads and all.
