Ha, "DH" and "LOL" are terms I don't really like but I use them anyways because it is easier!

I'm not a huge fan of some of the longer "compilations" like FWIW or IMHO just because it took me forever to figure out what they were & still sometimes when I see them it takes me a minute to "read them out". lol

I don't really mind online abbreviations like OMG, TTC, DH, ect. I only dislike when ppl talk lik dis, u kno?
nectarine / 2936 posts
I prefer to use hubs over DH, but I do use it sometimes. I also don't like DS or DD but I agree they are more clear that just S or D. I think it's the dear/darling part that sounds unnatural to me.

No, I always type things out even if it takes longer. Most of the abbreviations drive me nuts!
pineapple / 12526 posts
I use a few of them. The only one that ever got me was on WB when people would use STD. haha, it took me forever to figure it out.

@zippylef: I could never bring myself to actually use it, even after I did figure it out! lol
pomegranate / 3329 posts
I hate them, but use them because everyone else does. I suppose that makes me a sheep
If I have to look it up to figure out what it means I don't use it, I use the simpler ones, dh, ds, dd, lol, dsd...

@zippylef: what is STD?! I would google, but don't know how to without coming up with "sexually transmitted disease".
I hate DH, DD, DS. I recently started using DH sparingly, though. I use LO instead of DS. I agree with @mrs. 64: that the dear/darling is just unnatural to me. Who came up with this anyway?
I've also used OMG even though I kind of hate it.
This is more from the days of AIM, but husband and I use "BRB" when we talk to each other in person, ha.

@pui: I agree, haha!
@allison: STD in the wedding world is Save the Dates.

@mrs. 64: These are the ones I don't care for other. The "Dear" part seems so unnatural, but everyone understands it so I use it. I prefer hubs or hubby personally, but I know others that cringe at those terms. I also don't care for LO, but we use it on HB so much.
And STD in wedding-planning? I think everyone gets shocked the first few times they read that online!
bananas / 9357 posts
I don't really care for them but I use them all the time b/c it's just faster and easier.
coconut / 8681 posts
@zippylef: Hahaha what about BM? I used it but always found it a little odd.
None of it really bothers me except for off the wall things like writing in all caps or making the whole post a huge run-on.

DH DS & lol all bug me but everyone else does it so I just go with it to avoid confusion.

OMG, WTF! IMHO, FWIW, online lingo is totes amazeballs. LOL, jk!
But seriously, on WB, what does FI actually stand for? I could never figure that one out.
I do use the lingo, though even typing it out makes me feel awkward. Especially "LOL" and I say "SO" because I'm not married yet but as I said, don't really know what FI means?

It took a lot for me to call sex BD, but I've done it before. And O to me was something different than what it's referred to in the TTC crowd, so that took awhile, too!

@IRunForFun: FI is fiance
hahah the STD always confused me and I couldn't get over it.
I don't like BD and don't use it. I don't care for DH, DS but I use them anyway.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Mrs. Pen: I know that it means fiancé, but does it stand for anything. Like, F is for...and I is for...?
coconut / 8475 posts
@Happygal: I know hahahah!! It's like "did you O this week?" And I'm like, "whooooh, crossing the line, there!". But yeeeeah, apparently it means ovulate. My bad...

@Turtledoves: ; )
Have you seen people abbreviate boobs as bbs? That seems really lazy to me! And I didn't know fingers crossed was FX for awhile.
I have an uncle who thinks LOL is "lots of love" and he signs off all his emails that way.

@prettylizy: Is it just a shortened form of Fiancé? I kept trying to figure out what each letter stood for and best I could come up with was maybe Future Intended?
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
I'm pretty sure ts just shortened, though I never considered future intended

I hate when ppl use presh for precious. So annoying! And totes for totally. It just sounds like your trying to hard
