I'm thinking about trying out Redbox.
My cable provider is providing one month free of rentals and I always see coupons for free rentals.
If you've used it what has your experience been with new movie availability? How long do you get to rent the movies out for? What's the late charge penalty? Thanks!

I do, it's super easy & the availability of new movies (at least in my experience) is really good. I believe it's 1.20 or so a day. Pretty sure the movie needs to be returned by the next day before 9pm. If you keep it longer, it's another 1.20 a day.

Double checked, it's due by 9pm the following day or you're charged for another day til it's returned.

We prefer it to netflix. You can check availabity of the movie you want on their website - it lets you know which redboxes in your area currently have the movie in the machine.

I love it. You can go on their website and reserve a movie at a particular kiosk so that you know it will be there when you get there.

We love it. We have rented two this week - it's super easy to find promo codes too, which is a plus. We rarely pay for a movie.
We have had some trouble this week finding Dallas Buyers Club, but as a result we have watched Gravity and American Hustle (both were great!). In Redbox's defense though, our "trouble" was that it wasn't at our usual Redbox.

We don't have a dvd player right now but when we did we used it all the time. It's $5.99 to rent on demand or $1 through redbox which is at thr grocery store, so I just buy snacks for movie night while there.

Love it and use it often when I want to watch a movie not available on Netflix. I use free coupon codes all the time and have only had to pay a few times. The code DVDONME works like a charm.

@LMOG47: that's not bad at all! We have a local video store we use sometimes and their rental is super cheap but they get you with late fees!
@mrsjyw: that's our problem too with returning them! But DH likes to watch movies and like @bpcmarj: said it's so much cheaper than on demand! But on demand is oh so convenient.

Yes, we use it often with newer releases. I reserve online and pick up at our local so I know they have the movie we want! Going to go ahead and do it for tonight 
NOt to thread jack but anyone use the Redbox ON Demand? I think it's like Netflix but wasn't sure how it worked?

@locavore_mama: yea...seeing the new releases too is nice! we watched american hustle, escape plan, and dallas buyers' club this wk. Total charges = $7.50. We were charged 3 days for AH, 2 days for EP, and DBC was free with a promo code (need to return today!)

I will say that I own "The Hannah Montana Movie", "Time Travelers Wife", and "Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging" because I kept forgetting to return them...

@locavore_mama: We use it all the time and love it. We're actually canceling the mail portion of Netflix b/c we use Redbox way more often. You can also download their app to reserve Ahead of time. Very helpful if you're out and about when the mood for a movie strikes!

We use it all the time but we have two really close to us. We rent whatever we want to watch for that night and return it the next day. We're cheap. And there are usually a bunch of free codes and you can use one for each credit card. So we rarely actually pay!

That's what we usually use, but we also don't watch a ton of movies. It's fine for us.

We use redbox all the time! We use the app to reserve, and I love that you can return to any redbox. For example, we will pick up from the one closest to our house and then return at the grocery store the next day when we go to do our shopping. Super convenient and cheap. Even if you forget for 3 days it's still cheaper than if you rented something on demand, I think movies are like 5.99 on our directv.
