I didn't use the dishwasher often before having kids, but now we run it everyday... sometimes twice a day!
I can't live without it now!
Do you use your dishwasher every day?

We don't run it every day since there are only two of us but we do use it often. We put everything expect pots and pans and glassware in the dishwasher.

We're renting a really old house and there's NO dishwasher! Since DH cooks our meals, I wash the dishes. I don't really mind it though. My parents never used our dishwasher growing up (even though we had one). The first time I ever learned how to turn a dishwasher on was in college!

Definitely, with the three of us plus we have a friend living with us I have to use it every day.

we have never used ours since we moved in last summer. currently its being used as a storage space for some of our china. I have always washed by hand and I think thats better for getting the dishes clean

Yes! Well, perhaps not every single day, but nearly every day. I wash all pots/pans/knives by hand though.

Yes, all the time. It is really a sticking point for me with apartments. I refuse to live in apts with no dishwasher.

We always put our dishes in the dishwasher but not our pots and pans. We run it about every 3 days or so... can't live without the dishwasher now!

Oh i use it every second day. its a must. I wish it would unload itself though

i could not LIVE without my dishwasher - other than big pots and pans, EVERYTHING goes into it

We use ours as a drying rack, but if DH, DS and I were all eating the same meals and using a full loads worth of plates a day, I would not be able to live without it. With DS/mine diets and DH's work schedule it just makes sense not to right now.
(BTW I'm having total déjà vu with this post. I had to double check and triple check that something wasn't wrong with my computer here lol)

Oh yes. We lived without one for six months and it caused endless fights in our house over who had to deal with the dishes. I couldn't live without it.

We use ours all the time (I only handwash things that aren't dishwasher safe or that are too big for the dishwasher)-- I come from a family who only used the dishwasher as a drying rack (I think it's an Asian thing-- something about not trusting the machine to wash as well as a person would).

This about sums it up.

Love my dishwasher! When I moved in with hubby he never cooked so he didn't bother to fix it when it broke. I made him fix it for me though!

We run ours about every other day. I never had a dishwasher growing up and I can't imagine not having one now.

@HabesBabe: i do think handwashing is better generally esp when crap is stuck, but dishwashing prolly disinfects better because it gets so hot.
and yup we've always had dishwashers in our houses growing up, but they were only used for storage!

I hand wash! If I had an awesome dishwasher I could trust, I'd probably use it more often.

I use it ALL THE TIME! I cook a big dinner everyday & make myself lunch everyday too, so it's usually 2 loads/day here. I do hand wash certain pieces but I would hate not having a dishwasher. I didn't mind in college but now? No way! I also like that it keeps my sink clutter free!

We run our dishwasher just about every night. Whomever doesn’t cook keeps up with the dishes during prep (either hand washing or putting into dishwasher), and we hand wash all large bowls, knives, cutting boards (except plastic ones) and pots/pans. Our dishwasher isn’t huge, so we usually generate enough dinner dishes to run it at night.

we run it about once a week. i'm sure with the babies, we'll be running it every day to every other day!

I run it when we're entertaining or I make a huge production while cooking. Otherwise, we run it every other week just to rinse it out and keep the moldy scent at bay since we use it as a drying rack for hand washed dishes.

We run it every other day! My parents use theirs as a drying rack!

We use it all the time. So do InLaws. My parents don't...

OMG I can't live without it! I never had one before moving into our new house and to be honest, never really knew what the big deal was. Man oh man. Now it's a household appliance I MUST have.

With just the two of us, it takes us a couple of days to fill, but we definitely use it. I still handwash things that aren't super dishwasher-safe or are a strange size, though.

I'm so glad we have a regular dishwasher, which is rare in Japan. I use it every day or every other day, depending on if I cook or not.

Yes, but we only run it every couple days or so since there's only two of us right now. We only hand wash things that aren't dishwasher safe.
squash / 13764 posts
Absolutely!! It's a must have...I can't imagine having to wash dishes after every meal, especially once we have kids.
