We've never used ours in the 5 years we've lived here. And we live somewhere that gets pretty cold in the winter! I think it's because we're lazy and don't want to clean it and stuff, haha.

Never used it in 4.5 years we've lived here. It doesn't get that cold. Plus, our air quality is so bad most days, it's banned.

Not really. We have a gas fireplace and my DH is just thinking about the gas we are paying for every second it is on! So it's very rare!

We don't-- we live in SoCal and it's a gas fireplace-- so no wood burning smelly goodness

We've never used it in the 2+ years yet. I always want to, but DH prefers if we just turn on the heater.

Hardly ever. DH loves it and keeps on about how we have to use up our wood supply before the winter is out... But I actually don't like the smell or the dryness of the air afterwards.

We don't have one, although we've lived with fireplaces. We're working on buying or building a home, and a fireplace is something that we're NOT wanting to splurge on. If it's in a house we like, then fine, but we know we'll never use it, unless it's gas. We'd rather upgrade something else instead.

We don't. It doesn't get cold enough to start a fire here that often.

We just moved into our house and are so excited to have one finally. Have to get it cleaned before we can use it, so probably won't be till this fall. I am 99% sure we are going to put gas logs in, so we can it on and off super easy. Esp. for when I am home alone.

We use it all the time! We have a gas one though, so all we have to do is flip on a lightswitch and it's on. We just ran out of gas on Tuesday, so from September through February we used our entire gas tank worth!

We don’t use it very often at all. It’s gas and we keep the venting covered because so much cold air gets in when it’s not on. It’s a pain to go outside, remove the vent cover, then go back and put it back on when you’re done. It’s beautiful, but I’d like to rip it out and replace it with a wood burning stove (vs. fireplace).

I've never lived in a house with one, our new house will have one on the main floor, and gas line run for 2nd one in the basement, SO excited.

Not at all since we need to get fireplace doors and haven't done that yet. We have a two sided fire place so the draft always drags the smoke out into the house instead of letting it go up the chimney.

Only when our heater goes out. We have a pile of wood ready to go though. Our fireplace is wood burning so I hate cleaning up after we turn it on.

Our is gas on a thermostat so I just set the temp and it comes on and off on it's own. I LOVE it in the winter, it keeps our basement livable.
