I'm sorry for your loss! I usually wear dark colors...charcoal gray, black, gray. I usually don't wear all black.

I typically wear black or grey neutrals. Usually black dress pants, a black heel, and a grey or white shirt with a black sweater.

When my next door neighbor and mom of my friend died when I was in middle school, I insisted on wearing this light turquoise dress to the funeral because I thought it would make me less sad. The casket ended up being the exact same color as my dress and I felt uncomfortable and like I was trying to draw attention to myself. Now I wear dark colors out of respect to the family, but I understand what you mean about mourning their death rather than celebrating their life. I think when it's your close family member it's ok not to follow the tradition of dark clothes if you don't want to.

I follow whatever dress code is provided. I ALWAYS ask what colors they want people to wear. Most people want you to wear black but I have been to cultural african funerals where they wanted everyone to wear white, or white & black or even red and black. And each color combo means somethign different so I dont want to be disrespectful and wear the wrong thing

I normally wear an outfit where black is the main/dominant color, and the other colors are not bright/contrasting.

I wear dark colors. It's a norm, and I don't want to feel like I'm standing out. It just feels more respectful to me.

Dark colors. The last funeral I went to I wore a dark gray top and black pants.

When my friend Justin's father passed away in March I wore dark colors, tweed skirt with black sweater. DS was 3 months old and I didn't want to bring him, but they insisted and said that it would make my friend's mom smile to see him there. I put DS in a light blue dressy sweater one-piece.
His father was a pretty stylish man, so Justin wore a beautiful seersucker suit with light green. It was a really touching tribute to his dad and celebrated that side of him.

I think it depends on the funeral but I agree that you should wear what you like. I've always worn dark colors but I did have a friend whose father passed away a few years ago. His mother wore brighter colors because his father always loved how she looked in bright colors and she wanted to celebrate his life and I thought it was sweet.

Sorry for your loss. I usually always wear dark colors. I wore a dark dress to my great-grandma's service a couple weeks ago. It was more of a celebration of her life since she was 103 and in a lot of pain. I still wore black, but partly because I had no other dresses that fit me since it was cold out.

I wear dark neutral colours, unless it is requested otherwise.

The last funeral I went to I wore a black silk knee length dress with a charcoal 3/4 length cardigan. The one before that was my cousins, she had planned her own funeral when she was in palliative care and requested everyone wear something purple (her favourite colour), so I wore black pants, a charcoal sleeveless wrap top, and an Amethyst coloured cardigan.
