I do a lot of work in tech, and am in awe of what AI is now capable of doing. My kids are 5 and 7 and I have no idea what the world will be like when they graduate high school.
Last year, I was watching the AMC show Humans and there was this whole subplot where the family's high school daughter didn't see the point in studying since robots could do almost everything she could possibly learn. I think we'll reach that point pretty soon, actually! And that's for college-level work; I think that trade professions will be automated even faster than that.
I have no idea what this all means. What should our kids do when all the jobs are gone, and done by robots/computers... just follow their dreams? For now I will just assume that the workforce will be really competitive and prep my kids accordingly, but it's actually a really uncertain situation and I worry a lot about their futures.
