My coworker told me that his son (9 or 10) wants to sing Animals by Maroon Five in a talent show next month. I don't think he knows the lyrics....haha.
Do you worry about popular song lyrics yet? I don't really think about it but I wonder when and if I should start. My parents never paid much attention to stuff like that and I didn't have any music that was off limit.

Yep. Kidz Bop cleans up the songs, so if there's something questionable, D has to listen to that version.

My daughter somehow started playing Sexy and I Know it on my phone today. I heard the word ass and cringed. I like apps that filter curse words!!

Yes! My LO loves Bruno Mars but we stopped playing him because of the lyrics. And she loves to sing All About that Bass, but her favorite part is "I'm bringing booty back!" We've been going back in time to when lyrics were cleaner (even if they were saying naughty things."
Now she listens to the Beach Boys

This reminds me of my elementary talent show. A trio of girls sang and danced to Salt n Pepa's Shoop. That song was so popular and everyone was listening to it, but seeing 10 yr old girls perform it was too much!
I'm so going to be that parent that will protect the innocent ears.

Nah, LO loves All about That Bass and I let her dance to it. I think it has a good message. 
My parents never really filtered me, although they hated that "rap crap" I listend too.
Funny story, we lived in an old house, and for some reason the outlet in the bathroom was connected to the light switch. We used to have a boom box in there to listen while we got ready, well I forgot to remove/turn off the Dr. Dre CD so dad was in the shower and all of a sudden (it always took awhile for the CD to play) he got to enjoy Dr. Dre Cronic in the shower. That CD ended up in the trash real quick! haha
