We try to get an ornament every vacation so it's always fun to reminisce about our travels as we decorate.
We also had a butt ugly mailbox when we bought our house. The previous owners painted the box with spots, Like a cow, and they glued a cow face to the front. Puke. Someone got us a cow ornament our first Xmas here in this house & it makes me laugh every year. I always forget how awful our mailbox was until Christmas!

Hahahaha! One of my favorite ornaments is a cow . . . on one side of the ball, the cow is saying "Moo-y Christmas" and on the other side, the cow is saying "Happy Moo Year" . . . I laugh every single time I take that thing out of the box!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yup! We have many heirloom oranments that used to be DH's grandmothers. Some are ones he made! Everyone of our nice ornaments are one a year from when we started dating.

We've got lots of special ornaments. As a kid, I would get one every year. I have one from an internship I did in Washington, DC. It's one of my favorite ornaments. We also were gifted a wedding/couple ornament set that I absolutely adore.

It took my husband six months to change that damn thing out. He left it up to annoy me. I eventually ripped the cow face too because COME ON, but ew.

yep! We also get an ornament from every trip we take! Also, every year we buy the ugliest/funniest ornament we can find. Just for fun.

We are the same. We get an ornament on most trips we take and have some to represent milestone events. I'm worried that if we keep this up, we will have to get another tree at some point!

We also started buying ornaments wherever we vacation, and we reminisce about our favorite memories when we hang them up.
My ILs noticed, so now they buy us ornaments when they go on vacation... Not the same thing...

Yes, I like to get an ornament with the year on it each year and try to also get an ornament to commemorate each trip we take. I have a ton of ornaments from when I was little that are very special. And I have some from the 40's or 50's that were on my grandparents tree. I have to be extra-careful with those.

I always buy an ornament on a trip - we have the ones from my childhood -ones my grandpa and grandma made - and now my kids yearly ornament that reflects what they like that year - this year DD got Minnie mouse and DS got angry birds!

We get a "special" ornament each year and just mix them in with the decorative ones! Eventually I hope to have enough to do a mini-tree with all of them.

Yes, I love having a story behind them all!
It was cute this year, as we were putting them up we were telling D the story behind each one. Then as she was putting the cheap (non meaningful) ornaments on the bottom, she was making up stories to go with them!
