Until J starts daycare in the fall, my teenage brother is his "nanny". My mom text me and asked if he can take J to the beach tomorrow. My mom and sister will be there, so I said yes. But I asked mom to drill it into my brother's head how important it is to watch him closely.

I've read so many drowning stories friends post on FB lately that I feel more sensitive to the issue than I did last year. J is pretty fearless in the water too. But since there will be several adults and it's my family, I'm not worried.
