What do you for Doctor appts if you're a SAHM without a babysitter or any childcare help?
I try my best to schedule my appts during the 2.5 hours she's in preschool 3x a week, but there have been a couple times when it hasn't worked out that way so I've had to take her with me. Luckily she's really behaved but I'm hoping I can schedule the rest of my prenatal appts during her preschool hours - I don't want to get a pelvic exam in front of her!!

I used to take my son. Unless it was a long appointment, then I would hire a sitter. It's easier this time because he's in preschool FT and DD is in daycare 3 days a week.

I try to schedule then during preschool, but my one year old still comes to all of my appointments.
I rely on snacks and toys.
My oldest had to come to one appointment and was treated to a Doppler of her belly. She's having a boy baby.

Mine is only 2- I take her to regular apts. but prenatal ultrasounds are tougher because the tech doesn't feel comfortable having her down since the room isn't child proof -- luckily I have family to grab for an hour or two, but the time I didn't the nurses were happy to play with her for the US portion!

My kids always come with me. Double stroller, snacks, and my cell phone. It's not ideal, and occasionally I schedule them really early so DH can stay home and go into work a little late, but almost always they just come with me.

I take both with me. I have even had them in the hospital a couple of times.

I had a pelvic in front of my daughter, my midwife was awesome and my daughter was interested, so she stood behind the midwife and watched.

I took her with me and relied on books, snacks and iPhone games. At mine, there's a policy against having kids there for u/s appointments without another adult present, so for those I scheduled the first appointment of the day (8am) and had DH come with me on his way to work.

I take both kids with me. The other day I had an internal pelvic examination while my three year old was in the stroller and my four month old was bouncing on my tummy. iPad and snacks are lifesavers.

I wasn't a SAHM but I had some appointments after work on days my kids did not attend preschool. (My hUsband put them down for a nap before he left for work.) My perinatologist worked a limited schedule so I had to bring both girls with me for 3 or 4 appointments. They entertained themselves with books, water painting and waiting room magazines.

iPod with Daniel Tiger videos. My 2 year old came to almost every appointment with me. If I needed her still is strap her in the stroller by she was good with a snack and video. She even ignored a pelvic exam.
I had Dh come for the ultrasounds and wrangle her. For the anatomy scan she started losing it so he left after they told us the sex and played in the lobby with her.

So far I've taken my son. But he is wild and a runner. Last time he left the room during the Doppler. So my doctor ran and got him. Ugh!
When I start going to the OB (28 weeks) it's going to be a pain. It's almost an hour away and they are always behind.
SOOO no advice just commiseration!

I am not a SAHM, but I have had to have a couple appointments where I have had the kids at home with me. The last time a friend of mine offered to have my DS over for a bit (DD is only 1 so easy to bring along) otherwise I just bring them and the iPad for entertainment.

@Mrs. Champagne: can you bring a stroller? I did that the first few times in case she wanted to run- better to strap them in!

I just take them with me. I rely on books, iPad, my iPhone & snacks. The doctor(s) are super accommodating!

I tried to schedule them during preschool times but when I couldn't it was fine. He was 2.5 at the time and ate snacks and I brought the iPad as backup.

When I was home with my daughter and had appointments I would try to schedule them early in the morning so DH would just go into work a little late, or I would schedule them during his lunch hour because his office was 5 min from my doctor's office. He would take LO for a walk in the stroller.

@travellingbee: my DH came with me last week for blood work and an ultrasound. While I got blood taken DH chased him around. I said "do you remember I usually do this alone?" And as he ran by chasing DS he said "I have no idea how!!"
@Foodnerd81: when I had to have DS come with me for blood work without DH he sat on my knee and did pretty good watching bubble guppies! He's just so curious in new places, haha.

I WAH with kids in daycare, but occasionally I've had to take them along with me. I bring the iPad and toys, but luckily, we've never really had to wait long. Once DS sat in on a pelvic exam and decided to turn around and watch when the doctor was examining me...oh well!

I'm not a SAHM but there have been a couple times that I had appointments when LO was sick and home from school. I would just always have my husband meet me at the doctor so he could watch LO and I could focus my attention on the Doctor/appointment.

I take DH with me. I understand that might not be an option, but he always arranges his schedule to be there. She has also been to my prenatals, including a full pelvic, pelivic ultrasound, breast exam, everything. No big deal.

I take her with me and rely on lots of snacks and our iPad. As long as I wasn't having an US, it worked pretty well, but my doctor has a policy against bringing LOs to US without another adult. Luckily DH works in a the same building as my OBGYN, so if he is not traveling he can come down and manage LO while I have my exam.

If I can't schedule during preschool hours, then she comes with me. I've had two prenatal appts (including ultrasounds) during her winter break, and she just comes with me and sits in the corner. Doctors are super nice and make her feel special. She tends to talk to the doctors more than me tho
