My favorite authors are Augusten Burroughs and David Sedaris. They're funny, but when you actually think about what they've been through and how they grew up.... wow. I usually forget I'm reading a non fiction book when I read their stuff.
I need a new book, anybody who has my same taste in books have any recommendations?

Have you read The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls? I think it fits into the category that you're looking for (although some of the stuff is so atrocious that I think this can't possibly be real life!)

@artbee: Yes, I loved it, but I was also horrified by it! Oh my gosh, the things that family went through. I think that's the only non-fiction book like that I've ever read. Usually I stick with fiction.
