I'm only into it a lot more now as a mom, too. My 5 yo kept asking when I was going to buy more Halloween decor for the house! And at her school carnival, all the parents dress up, so I'll be dressing up for the first time since college!
With the candy, they get 1-2 that night. The rest, we either chuck or keep for occasional treats throughout the year.

As a kid I was terrified of the dark side of holloween. I never understood the obsession with gore and violence and death. I absolutely hated it. I hated having to sing "the worms crawl in the worms crawl out" in music class in elementary school. I remember thinking, why do I have to sing about decomposing bodies?! I was too sensitive and was terrified of it all. To top it off, my birthday was 2 days before. It felt like a mean trick that every year in order to have my birthday, I had to deal with scary Halloween.
As an adult, I like pumpkins and fall things, I like costumes and celebrations/parties, I don't mind trick or treating or the candy, but I still don't get the creepy stuff. I'm obviously not scared of it anymore but I don't get celebrating ax-murderers, dead bodies etc.

I loved trick or treating as a kid. I mostly loved getting dressed up each year. As a younger adult I used to attend parties or go to bars which was also fun.
Since I moved out of my parents' place, I haven't really celebrated it. We haven't decorated our home for Halloween or given out candy. I'll probably start when I have an LO. We are going to the pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins with friends this weekend.
DH never got to go out for Halloween and he feels like he missed out.
To sum it up, I like Halloween, but I don't love it.

I don't like Halloween. I feel zero connection to it. I have neutral childhood memories of it, and it doesn't make me feel nostalgic. I am usually at a loss when it comes to picking / making a costume, and I'm frankly not interested enough to make time to get creative with it. And most of the women's costumes in stores are way too skanky. So, I usually plan to ignore/avoid Halloween. I guess that will have to change when my son is born. *shrug*

I love it. I love the feeling of the fall that I associate with Halloween. Soggy, cold, dark, foggy nights that smell like wet decaying leaves. And I really really love candy. BUT I totally get not liking it and I don't think you're weird. All the unquestioned cultural appropriation is a concern for me. And Encouraging completely unhealthy eating for children. The inappropriate horror themed public decorations feel awkward, "oh look honey, there's a bloody zombie in that persons yard." The whole thing is questionable. Oh and usually in new Orleans holidays come complete with their very own shooting or two.

I'm glad someone asked this because I've grown to dislike it more every year. A few years ago I had a gory experience witnessing a cremation (actually seeing the body go in and bones coming out) and since then it's been sad for me seeing my neighbors go all out with the skeletons and fake bodies. Of course kids don't understand that - I didn't when I was a kid and just wanted the candy!

@Mrs. Pen: I hate watching those Jimmy Kimmel videos because it just blows my mind how mean some of those kids can be towards their parents! I can understand the younger ones crying, but some of the older kids that go on all out screaming rages... ridiculous.
I love Halloween (I love ANY excuse to do something fun & different!), but if my kid ever acts as spoiled as some of those Jimmy Kimmel videos... so help them...
I generally try not to think about the 'history' of these 'holidays', because it's pretty silly. Doesn't Valentine's Day also have a really odd history?

@swurlygurl: one exception: the two boys at the end who totally turned it back on their mom were HILARIOUS. "We'll fine then, you're gonna get a tummy ache eating all that candy." "You sneaky mom!!" Haha that was the only funny part. The rest, was absurd. Especially the older girl screaming that she hates her father over it.

@Mrs. Pen: Have you seen the lame Christmas presents one? There's one daughter and son that are SO polite about it (I think the daughter gets a sandwich with a bite out of it?)

@swurlygurl: I haven't. I'll have to look it up. Jimmy Kimmel?

We don't do Halloween. It is primarily for religious reasons (same reason we don't celebrate a number of common holidays), but I've never really been a fan anyways.
What I do miss is costume parties. I need to find a way to have one some other time of year..... maybe for my birthday! lol

@Mrs. Pen: i dont like it either. I dont like the dark side of it either. You are not alone

@swurlygurl: just watched it- so funny- yet so sad!!! I remember one year I was eight my parents decided to do a no-gifts Christmas so we could donate money to charity instead. They took a lot of time explaining why and I understood well and was initially happy to do it. But when we had family christmas and I saw all my cousins opening gifts I just couldn't handle it and ran away crying!

@BananaPancakes: omg, a SHOE?! Maybe they should have gone shopping earlier than Christmas Eve to get what they wanted, yikes!
I love Halloween. I don't really get the "dark" thing either. It doesn't really originate from a dark place and these days it's only as dark as you want it to be. I'm not really into horror movies or scary stuff but I enjoy the costumes and I just love fall and pumpkins and decorating
But I'm a sucker for any holiday or special day. I even like valentines day (don't judge me! Haha)

I absolutely love fall and Halloween, but the trick or treating greed gets old really fast.

Neutral over here.
True story: when we first came here from Korea (we were 5/6 years old) my parents didn't know about halloween or ToT.... (it's only been recently celebrated in korea, if at all still) so my brother and i didn't have costumes at school. (my bro's teacher made him a "mask" out a brown paper lunch bag) and i just walked around the parade in reg clothes.
that night, we shut off the lights and pretended not to be home, because we didn't have candy. i remember hiding by our bay window with my brother, playing patrol on if kids were still coming up to our house.
LOL. we hated it at the time, but it's one of our fondest childhood memories when we talk about it now! LOL
anyway. i'm neutral. i'm not a huge candy/chocolate lover, will def be doing the toy trading option with our DS when he's old enough to go ToT. i usually volunteer at my home church's "hallelujah" night that is set up like a carnival for the night.
i'm not a huge fan of my neighbors and ToT dies down really early in our neighborhood. i obvi adore dressing DS up in silly costumes, but it's more of an excuse for DH to buy a bunch of chocolate treats for himself!
both of us just really love the fall season, and that's the main reason we "celebrate" all holidays this time of year.

I am not a huge fan. However, we always dressed up, and my kids seem to enjoy it. I really dislike scary anything. The neighbor across the street put on a wherewolf mask last year and scared the bejeezus out of my DD (he said sorry and didn't realize we had kids with us??). She refuses to go back to his house this year. Also when I was younger I was totally silly stringed while I was out trick or treating by random kids and I was SO mad.
