So I wish this were taller bc I really like it as a side table (intended usage). I was ready to return but LO flipped it and I realized I could use it to store blankets! Does it look strange upside down? I need input

Not at all... we use something similar to hold blankets but I agree with @mrs. lemon-lime one of those west elm trays would make it the perfect side table as well (I don't think it is too low)

I really like it as a nice looking storage thing! But if you're still looking for a side table I think you really do need an actual side table to go on the other side (or this storage thing can go underneath the side table).

Looks like it's really versatile and could be used as a basket, end table, or even a stool depending on how sturdy it is/what other things you add to it.And by the way, I LOVE your rug!
