yeah, DS is a force. He's very lively, very active. He hates to sit still and read books, play with blocks, etc. He could kick a soccer ball all day long. He's always putting on his shoes asking for the keys so we can go outside.
He's pretty much just like me. I'm a busy body and always out doing something.

Even when he was tiny - he hated the swaddle, hated tummy time or facing in while in carriers. He was content when he was being entertained, bounced, etc. and seeing new things. He crawled, stood and walked early.
I never had that cuddly baby, lol

Yes, she's 11 months and she can go from laughing to screaming at the top of her lungs in 30 seconds. She wants to get her way already & thinks that screaming will get it! The two words we use to describe her are spunky & determined She is an amazing baby but she definitely has a lot of spunk in her!

Oh my goodness yes! DD is only four months, but it's been clear from day one that she's an independent, strong-willed little lady (case in point: I was induced at 42 weeks and she still refused to be born and I ended up with a csection!). She doesn't like to be held or cuddled, she just wants to do everything on her own terms and without any help.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh god, I think I just saw my future with Penny. She has such a fiercely independent and determined personality and has already mastered the withering look when I try to redirect her...
And she's had full on, throw herself on the floor tantrums from 8 months. No joke.
But on the upside, at 13 months she's running, dancing, talking, signing, climbing and has more vocab than her dreamy big bro did at 2!! So there's definitely an upside.

oh yes!! haha my husband has also said that he hopes LO uses her powers for good one day as well!

When LO was born, it was a beautiful sunny, summer day - until I waddled into the OR for my c-section - then it started thundering and hailing (!!!!) and raining so hard. haha, we joke that the heavens were called forth for LO!

She is quite cuddly and very loving, but it's on her terms. She is fiercely independent; she does not like anyone helping her, she wants to do everything by herself. She also hates the word "no" and can be very sassy as well. We've yet to be able to sit and read her a book other than during the newborn days, because as soon as she was able to reach for the book, *she* has to control the reading, and flip the pages at her speed. Oh my, I fear for the teenage days!!

@yoursilverlining: Ditto on trying to read books. If my LO had the capability to say "I want to do it MYSELF" I think that's the only phrase I would hear all day.

My son is a manipulator. He rules his daycare to the point where his teachers know they have to do things "just so" otherwise he won't participate.

It's a tough balance, because I want him to hold his ground, but at the same time, I don't want him to be excluded because he's inflexible.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh boy, that sounds like fun to look forward to... I am laughing (and shaking my head) at the fake tantrum!!

Penny's favourite trick is pretending her big brother did something to her so I tell him off - she smiles smugly when she manages to trick me! So tricky!

And yes... Penny is exactly like me too. I'm just hoping the self toilet training in one day at 18 months is hereditary too!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: That video of Chloe on IG the other day had me hysterically laughing. Whatebber!

DS is only 3 months and I'm scared. I can already see my husband's personality in him! Giggling, smiling, and kicking constantly...he is already a flirt! If you've seen him on IG you know what I mean. Kid is crazy!

@mrs.cookie: my mom says I used to purposefully annoy my brother just to get him to hit me so I could fake cry and get him in trouble. My dad would get all flustered with my brother "C, why do you let her push your buttons and manipulate you like that?!? She's you LITTLE sister!!!". Karma truly is a bitch I guess!

My 13 month old boy does what he wants, when he wants. We walk outside a lot, he wants to try to walk into the street. Refuses to listen to me (though he acknowledges me). Yanks his hand away when I try to turn him around and if I hold tight enough to not let him squirm away he plants his feet, and if that doesn't work sits down in the middle of wherever we are and screams. When I then pick him up to bring him to another part of the complex he will twist and flail and try to launch himself out of my arms. And he's a *really* strong kid. No matter where I set him down he automatically beelines for the road. Oy.

He's fearless, too. He's fearless and stubborn. A few weekends ago we went to the Ren Faire. During the final joust DH was holding him, and he flailed himself hard enough that DH put him down so he could walk around (we were sitting in the very back row) Instead of walking around in the grass near us he immediately took off down an aisle to the "stage" (which was down an incline) and had almost reached the fence (which I'm sure he would have gone under) by the time DH caught up with him. FAST, stubborn and fearless And it's not as if the actors were just standing around, there was a joust going on! And at least a thousand people there!

We're trying to console ourselves by telling each other that we'd rather him be fiercely independent with a strong sense of what he wants and a solid backbone. I'm not worried about someone pushing him around or making him do something he doesn't want to do (because even as a toddler--it's an actual struggle), but I do sort of wish he'd give a little...to me and DH, anyway

@Corduroy: when my LO was that age she used to SCREAM when floaters came in her room and then would always take a monster nap because she didn't want to have to interact with strangers! Her teachers found it hysterical. But now at nine months she's outgrown it. She still ignores people she doesn't know but at least she doesn't scream!

Oh yes! We nicknamed our daughter our future CEO because she is so strong-willed, determined, spunky, and opinionated. Such a firecracker! She talks all.the.day.long and she likes to "correct" us. She'll ask, "what is that mommy?" but she's not really asking because she already has an answer in her mind. If I say something differently, she'll be like, "no no no Mommy, that is not a bus that is a firetruck.". I just look at her, nod my head, and go, "oh ok".....

She insists on cleaning up her own messes, washing her own hands, picking up her own things. She's fiercely independent, super fiery, and I love the girl to death. She gives me a headaches sometimes but it's stinkin' hilarious too.

She is totally going to be bossing her chill, easygoing, lil' bro around. Poor guy. I can already see it now...
