My baby won't nurse in public anymore...I think she is spoiled with the side lying position at home! I've tried different holds, cover/no cover and she just won't eat.

DS can nurse in public, but gets distracted by noises/people.
I almost always nurse lying down too! It's comfy

When she was a baby she was def more stimulated outside so would ask less. But once she was hungry enough to ask she didn't care where we were. I nursed her until 2 but stopped NIP around 1 or so because she was really easily distracted out and about and it was easier to have her munch on cheerios then wanting to look up and around every 5 seconds.

J gets so distracted nursing in public now (or nursing anywhere, but at least at home I can nurse him in a totally quiet room). He'll only eat for a minute or so. I think he's gotten to the point where he'll just make up for it at his next meal.

@Beehive: I think my LO does the same thing...she didn't eat for 4.5 hours and just nursed when we got home from lunch'

M used to do fine nursing in public. Now she pretty much refuses to nurse unless I sit her on my lap facing me with BOTH boobs out so she can go back and forth. Trying to feed her in an airport tomorrow should be interesting.......

nope he is way too much of a busy body, he just immediately stops, milk spills out of his mouth, and looks at whoever is talking/making noise. not worth it!!

We went through a distracted stage a wee while ago but at almost ten months A seems to just get on with the job at hand

No, he hates the cover because he gets hot. I haven't mastered the art of discreet cover-less nursing since we still have to use a nipple shield.

He does fine with NIP but I don't use a cover. It's tricky enough to get situated and get him latched without adding in a cover. The few times I've used a blanket, he just ripped it off. I nurse at home with a boppy and take it with us wherever we go so maybe he does well with that continuity. We use the football hold every time.

Nope, she hates the cover and I don't feel comfortable without it. I usually just go to the car

DS doesn't mind nursing in public but he HATES being covered (which DH insists on) and is distracted by everything around us so it is difficult.
