I've been breastfeeding DS for nearly 4 months now & have recently decided I don't care to bother with a cover in public anymore! I typically wear a t shirt with a tank underneath so I can pull one shirt up & one down so that very little is exposed. I was out with DH recently and he was shocked that I wasn't using a cover. He said it makes him feel weird that people might see my breasts. I told him I don't give a shit & when my baby is screaming because he is hungry, flashing people is the last thing on my mind! That being said, I do try to be discrete & cover myself as much as possible for myself but also to respect DHs feelings.
Do you use a cover while breastfeeding in public?
I think I shocked my visiting MIL and SIL this week with my total lack of discretion, but I don't really see my boobs as sexual or something to be discreet about while I have a nursing infant. As a side note, a guy yelling bible verses in the street shouted to everyone about me when I walked by nursing in the Beco the other day. "Look at her, doesn't even cover her breast when feeding her baby. How disgusting. Can you imagine?" I would have said something to him if I hadn't walked past already.
) which makes it difficult to maneuver things and be discreet. I find a nursing cover just further complicates things! I prefer to use my hand to support my breast and use my shirt to keep things discreet. Yes, it's very obvious that I am nursing, but much less so than if I was propped under a tent of fabric'
