When you travel, does your child carry anything? My daughter really wants to bring her suitcase with her but I don't want her dragging it through the airport and I don't want it banged around in luggage, either. Does your child use a backpack or something when traveling? Or do they drag their own suitcase through the airport?

She has a little suitcase but I dislike bringing it on the plane because most of the time I end up having to carry it along with my own carry-on, wrangle LO, etc. LO and I share a suitcase whenever we travel so there also just isn’t any need for her to bring her own suitcase. Soooo...most of the time I nix the suitcase.
She has a Skip Hop zoo kid’s backpack that she carries onto the plane. She also usually brings a “friend” (doll or small stuffie).

We haven't done any traveling yet, but we're taking a trip next year and so I'm getting the boys backpacks for it. That way they can carry some toys and other needed items onto the plane themselves.

We got him a backpack with a roller and will use it for the first time tomorrow. He's a little over two. It will have his necessities (snacks, toys, lovey, etc).
I got the backpack so that if he doesn't want to pull it anymore or when we're boarding I can just put it on my back and it's not a big deal. But I also don't really carry much on for myself - just a tote/purse with iPad, wallet, etc. -
My son sometimes takes a backpack, especially for long flights. I'm not letting my kids take a carry on suitcase until they are old enough to be fully responsible for it.

My son has a rolling suitcase that he uses as his carryon luggage. It contains his toys, mostly. He's really good about packing it, and he likes to roll it through the airport.
His actual clothes get packed into my own checked suitcase and I carry a backpack so if need be, I can roll his carryon. I basically carry the opposite of what he carries, so I am not stuck with 2 backpacks or two roller cases.
All in, we bring a carry on each and at least one checked bag (for all three of us). Not your question, lol, but I think the total number is important.

We just returned from a trip that involved a long flight. I let my 3 year old pack a small backpack with toys. His clothes, however, went in my suitcase. My 2 year olds toys were in my carry on. It worked out well.

She has a Disney princess rolling luggage that turns into a mini backpack. It is the cutest smallest little thing. It was good for ages 3-nearly 6 for my shortie.

My almost 4 year old LO has a backpack that has wheels and can also be pulled like a suitcase. We let her pack her headphones, snacks, crayons etc and bring it on the plane. She's really very good about being fully responsible for it.

Our 3.5 year old has a small kid sized rolling suitcase. The last time we flew she carried that on and was fine. She had a backpack for her toys, headphones, Ipad mini, and snacks. And her clothes and shoes were in her suitcase. She only needed us to put it in the overhead bin.

DD is almost 4 and has never carried anything herself but we're going on a long flight Thanksgiving and I'm thinking of letting her carry a small backpack with wheels.

My kids (2&4) have flown several times and have always carried their own backpack with toys and comfort items for the plane.
Our home airport is very busy, major international airport - frequently with long distances to the gate. If we flew out of a smaller airport, I would consider having our oldest wheel a suitcase to the gate.
Since we travel with car seats, we check our suitcases and car seats, and only bring on under the seat carry ons.

We check their luggage and then pack a backpack for each of them. With diapers, change of clothes, fruit pouch, goldfish, coloring books,
Crayons, small toys, dum dums and their iPads. -
I also put them in matching pajamas so they are comfy and I can keep track of them easier. Not that black was the best choice...

My almost 4yo always says she wants to carry her own backpack, so we pack a little one with her crayons and books for the flight. Inevitably, she refuses to carry it the minute we get to the airport and also wants to be carried herself.
I'm looking forward to when she'll actually be responsible for her own backpack or little rolling suitcase!
