I LOOOVE our daycare, but some I wish that an alert went out every time a kid got sick. Then I would know what was up when Charlie's nose starts running, or when he gets ORAL HERPES!!!
It got me wondering: does your daycare tell you when other kids are sick?

We ended up with a stomach bug this weekend and had no idea where it came from. Sure enough Monday morning we found out it went around daycare!
I guess they don't want to get everyone alarmed if its nothing but I agree it would be nice to know.

Nope they don't tell us, unless we ask or if it's something a little more serious. We have ALOT of runny noses and coughing. Alas one started last night.

Yes, they send us an email whenever there is something going around the school so we always have a heads up. They'll let us know if a student or teacher is out due to sickness.

Not unless I bring it up somehow. I think they do tell when something big breaks out... but its been a while since he was in a daycare!

They don't really send out an alert, but we usually hear during drop-off or pickup through the teachers or other parents. Just recently they had the stomach virus that went from projectile vomiting straight to diarrhea. Kids, parents, teachers, they all caught it... I'm glad that one is over.

No but since I am usually one of the first to drop off and last to pick up I can tell when someone is out and usually ask. Our infant room is only 8 babies.

Nope! After battling a cough and congestion for over two weeks (and three doctor bills), my LO is now out of daycare for the rest of the week and on breathing treatments. I know everyone there is sick and I feel like daycare really gives me a hard time about continuing to bring her. I always feel like they are more harsh to me than other parents, but I'm hopeful that's just my one-sided view of the world.

If it is a state license facility I think they have to tell you what is making the rounds of kids, in our state (I think that is a law, but it just may be something parents expect). Even the schools put it up on their websites and the local news does a city map of what is being seen at doctors offices.

Yes, just got a call today even though she's out with me for the next 2wks. An "outbreak" of RSV is going on.
