We had a movie night on Friday but it was cut short halfway through because LO 1 told me she was tired. LO 2 will NEVER admit to being tired and she just gets cranky.

Yes, LO tells me that she's tired or sleepy all the time. Usually around 11am even though naptime isn't until 1pm She is a late riser though so I'm not sure what that's about!

My youngest has just started saying "I'm tired mama", but if I offer to put her down for a nap, she's not interested.

A couple times he has said bed. He lied his head down on DHs lap at Christmas time and said "bed". So off we went haha.

Yes. My oldest two will tell us when they are tired. It isn't always true, but they will!

My son is only 11 months old but he'll get fussy around his nap time and I'll say "do you want to go for naps??" and he'll get excited and laugh so I put him up and he goes right down. I really hope the next one is as easy as he is!!!

DD2 does. DD1 has a few times, but it's pretty rare.

No! But his grandparents watch him a few days a week and he announces "Nap!" and heads upstairs. He has never done anything like that for us!

@MOMTOLITTLEB: Same - my mom babysat and she was reading him stories and he pointed at his crib and said "I go to sleep now." He's never done that with me! Sometimes he'll put his head down on me and say "Mommy, I sleepy" but if I try to then put him down for a nap he seems to get a second wind.

Nope, never. But if say I'm tired he'll tell me I need a nap, lol.

Not quite yet BUT last week he was playing with his toys and I could tell he was tired. We were nearing nap time so I said "are you tired? Want to take a nap and go night night?" And he dropped his toys, stood, walked into his room and waited for me by his crib. I was shocked! That's never happened.
When we are reading his night time books sometimes he will clearly get impatient and disinterested, and he'll start to get squirmy. That's the closest he's come to saying he's ready for bed.

Maybe once in his life it happened and I was shocked. He will sometimes respond yes when I ask if he is ready for his nap. But that is also rare.

Nope! He'll cuddle up to me and his eyes definitely tell me he is, but he won't tell me himself he's sleepy/wants to go to sleep.

Yep. She will tell us she wants to go take her nap. She hardly ever tells us she wants to sleep at night, though.

Yes most days my 2 year old tells me when she wants her afternoon nap. She always seems to get a burst of energy once she's in bed though but I just leave her and eventually she drops off

All the time. He'll go turn off the TV during a show at night and say "time for books and night-night". Same for naps. I'm amazed by it. I'm sure my DD will not be quite as easy.

@jny1179: same here w my dd.
She's 2 and has always been easy to go down. My relatives couldn't believe it when they visited when she was younger!

DS (21 mo) will say "I'm tired" and lie down/snuggle but when I say ok let's wash up and get ready for bed, he somehow gets a surge in energy haha
DD (3) will very very rarely say she's tired. If she is clearly tired and I say that she is, it's always "noooo I'm not tiiiiired." It has to be her idea haha.
